POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the K4 Early Childhood Education Director and in accordance with Association policies, the K4 Early Childhood Education (ECE) Teacher will be responsible for assisting in the operation of the K4 Early Childhood Education programs. The Teacher serves as an instructor and leader to program participants, participants in the planning and implementation of high-quality curriculum and programs through engaging families and taking responsibility for each child’s safety and overall quality of his/her experience. ECE Teacher will ensure licensing compliance and YMCA Standards are upheld and executed within his/her classroom.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Make meaningful connections with program participants, families and school personnel.
2. Assisting with planning and organizing K4 Early Childhood Education curriculum activities, events, family engagement.
3. Arrive on time at the school rested and well-prepared to maintain appropriate adult: child ratios.
4. Recognize and solve individual and group conflicts effectively.
5. Keep accurate daily attendance records.
6. Maintain a professional, clean, neat, organized, and safe classroom atmosphere.
7. Attending staff training, staff meetings including required workshops and/or trainings.
8. Manage personal stress and stress of others effectively.
9. Balance K4 Early Childhood Education standards and expectations with flexibility.
10. Understand and follow all state licensing and YoungStar requirements as listed in DCF standards.
11. Maintain current certifications, staff file and continuing education requirements per state licensing, YoungStar and YMCA policies.
12. Always engage positively with children and use appropriate discipline/child guidance methods outlined in Licensing and YMCA child management policies and procedures.
13. Perform all other duties as assigned by supervisor and/or leadership staff.
