the YMCA of Metropolitan Milwaukee is Hiring a Specialty Aquatic Group Exercise Instructor Near Milwaukee, WI

This position supports the work of the YMCA of Metropolitan Milwaukee, a leading nonprofit charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Specialty Aquatic Group Exercise Instructor serves others by intentionally welcoming, connecting, and supporting them. The Specialty Aquatic Group Exercise Instructor, under the guidance and supervision of the Aquatic Director, will be responsible and accountable for assisting in the development and success of the Aquatic Group Exercise Program.

  1. Instruct/train Aqua Zumba or other specialty Aquatic Group Exercise classes as identified by the YMCA of Metropolitan Milwaukee Group Exercise list.
  2. Create a safe environment in which all individuals feel welcomed and respected; build relationships with members and programs participants.
  3. Take responsibility for participant safety by inspecting area, equipment and supplies.
  4. Lead energizing, fun, safe and educational group classes that align with the Y’s goals and objectives.
  5. Observe different health needs and adjust approach to support all participants’ capabilities and physical conditions.
  6. Modify classes, exercise, choreography, and routines according to fitness levels of participants.
  7. Ask and answer questions with empathy to support helping members and program participants build confidence in achieving their health and wellness goals. Also, identify and celebrate when members and program participants meet their goals.
  8. Continually learn to execute class formats and be prepared to begin and end classes on time.
  9. Provide a high caliber of presentation and program specific education while coaching and instructing classes.
  10. Role model and demonstrate proper form/technique while verbally cueing participants and correcting movement.
  11. Maintain group fitness certifications and stay informed on current safety and program development.
  12. Keep accurate class attendance records.
  13. Follow YMCA policies and procedures; respond to emergency situations according to the facility safety guidelines.
  14. Attend meetings when requested.
  15. Participate in programs and YMCA events, including fundraising endeavors.
  16. Is committed to the YMCA of Metropolitan Milwaukee’s Child Abuse/Neglect Prevention efforts as a mandatory reporter.
  17. Perform other duties as assigned.
