The YMCA of Greater Rochester is Hiring a Support staff Near Rochester, NY

Apply Job Type Part-time Description

$17.50 / hr. and a Free YMCA Membership

Shifts Range from 8am to 8pm Monday-Friday

Under the direction of the Operations Manager, the Program Support staff will run and assist to manage a fun and organized program experience in the Neighborhood Centers with youth to adult members.

The Program Support staff will assist to maintain a clean, safe and fun environment for the participants in program and actively engage with members.

The position is responsible for demonstrating YMCA leadership competencies to ensure the mission, purpose, image and core values of the YMCA of Greater Rochester is conveyed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :

  • Set up, break down and implement programming for the duration of the activities.
  • Actively engage participants during activities and provide positive engagement for all attending.
  • Keep accurate, detailed records of any necessary documentation as required.
  • Communicate and enforce rules and policies. Ensure organization and safe conduct during activities.
  • Familiar with and carries out emergency procedures, building rules and regulations.
  • Maintain a well-presented, safe facility with a high level of responsiveness in regard to cleanliness and repair.
  • Attend all required meetings and training.
  • Maintain required certifications.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 16 years of age.
  • Must have a genuine interest in working with people of all ages
  • Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Must possess CPR / AED and First Aid certifications or have the ability within 60 days of employment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :

  • Ability to supervise children by sight and sound at all times.
  • Ability to remain calm, objective and respectful in potentially stressful situations (i.e. crying upset child, upset parent, or upset staff).
  • Ability to move around the room to assist children and supervise children with activities, social interaction, physical and emotional needs.
  • Ability to lift up to 20 lbs.

Salary Description $17.50 per hour
