The Workforce Group is Hiring a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Near Baton Rouge, LA

Summary

As a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA), you will provide rapid deployment healthcare support at Medical Special Needs Shelters in Louisiana, in collaboration with the Louisiana Department of Health. You will provide advanced medical care, while collaboratively working with physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop and manage patient treatment plans.

Job Duties:

  • Provide general medical care and treatment to patients, under direction of physician (Including when Physician is out of office).
  • Actively participate in assessing patients
  • Assure operational readiness for emergency care/treatments.
  • Perform physical examinations and preventive health measures within prescribed guidelines and instructions of physician.
  • Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests to identify and assess patient's clinical problems and health care needs. Discuss case with physician and other health professionals to prepare comprehensive patient care plan.
  • Prescribe or recommend drug or other forms of treatment as allowed by current license and/or certification.
  • May refer patients to physician for consultation or to specialized health resources for treatment.
  • Observe universal precautions regarding blood-borne pathogen programs for patient protection and personal protection.
  • Observe regulatory agencies' standards regarding hazardous waste management/disposal.
  • Perform computer medical data entry: patient visits, treatments and services administered, medical chart/records documentation.
  • Support health promotion program activities.
  • Participate in continuing education to update knowledge of occupational health and safety including legal regulations applicable to occupational health and safety.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Education, Knowledge, and Skills:

As a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA), you must hold a bachelor's degree and certification from an accredited institution. Additionally, you should possess an active and unrestricted license to practice as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA), in Louisiana, along with a DEA Registration number. A minimum of one year of experience in a healthcare setting is required, with at least one year of Emergency Response Experience.

  • Must be able to work safely, adhering to all safety rules and regulations.
  • Work collaboratively to enhance safety culture and quality.
  • Must be capable of lifting 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand or sit for extended periods.
  • Must frequently push, pull, reach, and bend.
  • Required to have up-to-date vaccinations.
  • Must have strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills, with proficiency in managing complex medical situations.
  • Must be adept at multi-tasking, detail-oriented, organized, and have strong verbal and communication skills.
  • Must possess strong interpersonal skills and work well within a team.
  • Excellent communication and time management skills are essential.
  • Must successfully complete the Credentialing Process.
  • Proficiency in English and additional languages as needed.
  • Must be able to respond within 72 hours to designated locations when requested.
