The Wooten Company’s Raleigh, NC headquarters is seeking a team-focused, innovative entry-level CAD Designer to join our Environmental Team.

Who are you? As the ideal candidate, you will be confident in your skills with AutoCAD / Civil 3D and comfortable working on numerous and varying projects simultaneously. You enjoy the satisfaction of meeting challenges head on and supporting your team to meet the goals of our clients. You will be able to work relatively independently, communicate well with your colleagues, are open to new ideas.

What will you be doing? Candidates can expect to work on innovative projects in support of engineers, project managers, and other designers with water and water treatment plant designs. You will be drafting designs for each stage of a project, from preliminary layouts through to final construction drawings based on engineering notes, sketches, and / or other drawings. The person in this role can make a significant impact in their local community by supporting our clients as they carry out their mission. 

Who will you be working with? The CAD Designer will be working as a part of the Environmental Practice with other designers and engineers. The clients we serve include private developers, local municipalities and counties across NC and SC. Our projects are varied and include a wide mix of both public and private sector work.

Where will you be working? Downtown Raleigh is the home of our HQ and where this position will be preferably located. Conveniently nestled in the Glenwood South District, the local area is filled with restaurants and nightlife, unique shops, art galleries and studios, all built in what was once a row of warehouse buildings. 

Requirements

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Perform basic engineering design using AutoCAD / Civil 3D system under supervision.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to understand and conform with QA / QC procedures during performance and completion of design documents.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Associates degree from an accredited technical institute or university with emphasis on Civil / Environmental Engineering 
• Experience with CAD Design using Autodesk Civil 3D. 
• 0 - 3 years of proven work experience using Autodesk Civil 3D. 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

• Strong attention to detail.
• Able to multi-task, meeting deadlines while performing under pressure.
• Possess the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management, employees and outside contacts both verbally and in writing.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
• Working knowledge of drafting principles. 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. While in the field, staff may be exposed to adverse weather, including extreme temperatures, rain, snow, sleet and hail. Incumbents are also exposed to dangerous or unpleasant conditions and substances, including noise, dust, chemicals, vehicular exhaust fumes paint, traffic hazards, noxious plants, and wildlife.
