Description

POSITION OVERVIEW


The Environmental Services Lead supervises a team that works to provide the highest levels of cleanliness, safety and hospitality for students, visitors, faculty, and staff by providing general housekeeping and custodial services throughout the Westminster Community. The person in this position provides inspiring, action-oriented leadership that fosters consistency, results, and personalized service across the school.

Supervisor: Environmental Services Manager 

Supervisory Responsibilities: Environmental Services Technicians and Third-Party Contractors 

Position Status: Full-Time, Hourly, Non-Exempt, Regular, 12-month position

Hours of Work:  Standard work week based on the school’s schedule. Evening and weekend work will be required during heavy workload periods and campus special events.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Assigns duties and provide guidance to Environmental Service Technicians
  • Inspects team’s work on a consistent basis throughout the day to ensure that results meet or exceed prescribed standards of safety and cleanliness
  • Cultivates, fosters, and supports teamwork and coordination of efforts
  • Complies with all safety practices, procedures and rules
  • Monitors and controls supply inventory, ensuring adequate levels
  • Makes recommendations to improve service and efficiencies.
  • Maintains knowledge of best practices and safety procedures in the housekeeping industry; propose modifications to align current procedures and processes with the school’s mission
  • Trains new and current Environmental Service Technicians on safety, standard operating procedures, and new equipment and technologies
  • Documents employee performance and conduct issues as needed
  • Performs duties of Environmental Services Tech staff as needed
  • Investigates complaints regarding Environmental Services Tech performance and/or equipment; document and report the information to a superior
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS


  • A minimum 7 years’ experience with at least 3 years’ in a supervisory role or a combination of education and experience. 
  • High school diploma or GED required. 
  • Valid GA Driver’s License.
  • Must be physically able to perform and/or assist with the functions of the positions under your supervision when necessary

  • Lead, inspire, and motivate teams to collaborate, find solutions, and exceed expectations
  • Proven organizational and planning skills

  • Interpret a variety of documents/instructions, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals, furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Write effective reports and correspondence
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion; respect and value the different experiences, ideas, and backgrounds others bring to the work environment
  • Solid foundation and comfort with use of software and databases

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT


While performing the duties of this position, the employee is required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle and feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl; talk and hear; engage in moderately strenuous physical activity both indoors and out; and smell. The employee may occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee will, at times, be exposed to outside weather conditions and may frequently walk on slippery or uneven surfaces. The noise level in the work environment is frequently loud.

TRAVEL


Travel is primarily local during the regular business day. Overnight and out-of-area travel may also be required.
