Job Description

The UPS Store® #7801 is seeking a dedicated and driven Assistant Center Manager to join our team in Marysville, Ohio. The Assistant Center Manager delivers world-class customer service to all retail customers by receiving and processing packages for courier shipment, sorting mail, operating copiers, fax machines, binding equipment, laminating machines, and point-of-sale devices. Once commissioned, the Manager will perform acts as a Notary Public. The Manager expertly advises our valued customers by providing accurate information on our portfolio of products, services, and best-value options and exhibits confidence by knowing best practices related to the industry. They will help run the day-to-day operations of the store. The Assistant Center Manager is involved with personnel management, business development, as well as learning/managing the business KPI’s.

The ideal candidate has previous retail sales experience, strong computer and internet skills, and a warm, friendly, genuinely helpful demeanor. They can handle customer and employee complaints and concerns with a sense of patience and empathy. The ideal candidate should be able to quickly assess customer needs, acting as an honest and trustworthy advisor. The Manager should have a dynamic personality and be able to help motivate a team to optimize performance.

Retail customer service, management, shipping, print production, graphic design, and notarial experience is a plus.

Duties & Responsibilities - Play a key role in helping your store and your customer win.

- Perform personnel management, including recruiting, training, scheduling, and coaching associates.

- Monitor, evaluate, and maximize customer service and customer satisfaction outcomes.

- Oversee Center maintenance, including cleanliness, safety, and organization.

- Learn Center financials and how sales and Associate behaviors impact Center performance.

- Greet customers as they enter the Center and respond quickly and attentively.

- Deliver outstanding customer service to walk-in customers and telephone inquiries.

- Educate customers on UPS® services and products to help meet their shipping and business needs.

- Ask open-ended questions to build relationships and understand customers’ needs.

- Resolve customer complaints and issues in a timely, professional, and caring manner.

- Pack contents for shipping using established procedures and products.

- Handle cash, check and credit card transactions accurately and efficiently.

- Operate all equipment, software, and devices in an expert fashion.

- Maintain a clean and organized, and safe work environment.

- Keep up to date with changes in UPS® services and products.

- Assist customers with tasks in the self-service area.

- Meet and exceed sales goals through upselling and cross-selling UPS® services to offer the best total solution for the customer.

- Continuously practice good listening skills with customers, The UPS Store® team members, UPS employees, and other vendors.

- Demonstrate attention to detail and time management skills.

- Receive, sort, and place mail in mailboxes accurately.

- Retrieve packages from customers’ vehicles when requested.

- Witness documents for customers where applicable.

- Perform notarial acts, after becoming a commissioned Notary Public.

- Be flexible to perform other duties as assigned.

Essential skills and experience

- Able to work a flexible schedule (including some weekends).

- Have reliable transportation.

- At least 2-4 years of experience in a progressively responsible sales, customer service, shipping, printing, or supervisory role.

- Ability to lift packages up to 50 pounds, stand for extended periods of time.

- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including spelling and math.

- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Adobe Suites.

- Understand and use basic selling skills to engage and present solutions.

- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks.

- Attention to detail and keen eye to notice quality issues.

- Ability to problem solve and think critically through challenging scenarios.

- Prompt, reliable, and honest.

- Ability to use tact and diplomacy to maintain harmonious relationships with customers and co-workers, in person and over the phone.

- Willing and able to become commissioned as a Notary Public, which includes passing a background check.

- Previous experience in The UPS Store® network, or other similar shipping and print center background is a plus.
