Salary Range: Up to $50,000 annualized, commensurate with education, experience and qualifications.
Hours: Temporary position up to two years contingent upon funding, could be extended. Up to 40 hours per week, exempt.

Essential Functions

Job Summary
Plan, direct, and supervise a major unit engaged in research, investigation, or other technical operations.
Core Responsibilities
  1. Develops and designs plans for research experiments.
  2. Writes investigation reports, coordinates lab and report preparation, and directs research.
  3. Supervises the preparation of project proposals and fieldwork.
  4. Consults with and assists key members of research staff in solving specific problems encountered in the project.
  5. Reviews progress and reports final results to the director or principal investigator of the unit or project.
  6. Performs public outreach.
  7. Attends meetings, seminars, and symposia in related fields of research.
  8. Presents papers and publishes results of research projects.
  9. Assists in the preparation of grant and budget proposals.
  10. Takes a proactive approach to assist co-workers in various tasks, to ensure safety.
  11. Performs work tasks in a safe manner and following work instructions.
  12. Proactively makes recommendations to improve safety.
  13. Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Ph.D. from an accredited institution with major coursework in the field of assignment.
  • Four (4) years of related research experience.
  • Knowledge of the use and design of specialized research equipment as required by the project.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Five (5) or more years of related research experience.
  • Knowledge of scientific equipment used in related fields of research.

  • Valid driver's license and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) as applicable.
Working Conditions
  • Usual laboratory or office conditions.
  • Requires work with hazardous equipment or materials.
  • May require travel off-campus and extended overnight stays.
Physical Demands:
  • Sedentary work; sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required, only occasionally.
  • Exerts up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally.
This position will be primarily located on campus. Travel and parking expenses are the employee's responsibility.
