Purpose This position will primarily provide clinical services -- brief individual therapy and group therapy as well as crisis counseling -- for university students presenting with substance use / misuse and other dependency issues. Responsibilities As the Substance Use Support Team Coordinator (Psychologist), you will use your expertise with helping those with substance use / misuse and dependency issues to support the students at UT Austin. You will provide short-term individual and group counseling and outreach to students who seek services with our center. Outreach activities may include presentations to campus partners, supervision and training of social work / psychology interns and post-doctoral psychology practicum students, and development of training materials used within the center. Provide short-term individual and group counseling to students presenting with substance use / misuse and dependency issues, crisis intervention, and prevention and outreach services to undergraduate and graduate students. Conduct initial assessments of students' presenting concerns. Conduct short-term counseling with students referred for service. Maintain timely, accurate, and complete documentation of all service contacts as required by center policies and procedures. Develop and implement a good blend of programmatic interventions which address the psycho-social mental health needs of students as applicable Identify group assignment preferences and propose/develop new groups, as appropriate. Initiate advertising/recruitment and screening for group. Facilitate groups in accordance with service agreement. Demonstrate knowledge about group counseling and/or seek appropriate training Reviews client record to determine the progress, effectiveness, and appropriateness of treatment services offered. Maintains current, accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with state and federal law, professional ethics, and Counseling and Mental Health Center, CMHC, policies. Coordinates referrals between CMHC and university or community service providers. Provide clinical consultation to others on an as-needed basis and seeks consultation when appropriate. Provide urgent care services as necessary to students. Works collaboratively and cooperatively with other mental health professionals on CMHC's multidisciplinary staff and other university departments and organizations Develops linkages with key contacts of the designated population or issue for the purpose of developing and implementing programmatic interventions which generate substantial participation by students. Provide clinical training and supervision to social work and psychology interns, as well as pre-doctoral psychology practicum students. Provides individual supervision of interns, practicum students, or psychiatric residents. Provides individual supervision of group co-leaders. Supervises interns' supervision of practicum students. Co-leads training seminars. Offers and supervises preceptorships and apprenticeships for interns. Participates on training-related committees. Participates in training activities during the orientation period. Timely signature on clinical documentation and communication with supervisor of relevant issues. Other required activities Attend and participate in departmental and division meetings and staff development programs as assigned. Participates in the prevention and outreach team meetings by contributing new ideas, engaging in problem solving and seeking better ways to impact the mental health needs of students. Comply with all CMHC and UT policies, procedures, and guidelines. May be assigned other relevant duties as applicable License Requirement Psychology: Licensed to practice independently as a Psychologist in Texas Or if licensed in another state, must be able to obtain license to practice independently in Texas within one year If licensed provisionally, must obtain full license within one (1) year of employment Educational Requirements Psychology: Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology, Counseling Psychology, or other degree acceptable to the Texas Board of Examiners of Psychology. Licensed as a Psychologist or the equivalent from another state; must be able to obtain licensure in Texas within one year if licensed in another state. One-year, full-time equivalent, post-doctoral clinical experience in college or university counseling center or other relevant clinical setting. Required Qualifications Experience working in a college/university counseling center or outpatient mental health setting. Experience working with those who have experienced substance use / misuse and dependency issues. Demonstrated experience in providing crisis intervention, brief individual therapy, care coordination, and case management to college students and/or young adults. Experience providing culturally competent treatment to a varied client population Excellent verbal and communication skills Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate. Preferred Qualifications Two years of experience in providing brief individual therapy to college students in a university counseling center Two or more years of experience working with those who have experienced substance use / misuse and dependency issues. Demonstrated ability to work effectively and collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team integrating both a medical model and a developmental perspective Expertise in any of the following treatment modalities: ACT, CBT, and/or, DBT Experience and expertise working with college students who historically underutilize mental health services Demonstrated ability to work effectively with campus personnel, such as professionals in academic affairs and other student services providers Demonstrated ability to work within a large system and to participate and collaborate effectively in a large mental health services agency Licensed for two years Salary Range Licensed Psychologist - $76,000 depending on qualifications Provisionally Licensed Psychologist - $67,364 Working Conditions Work around standard office conditions Required Materials Resume/CV 3 work references with their contact information; at least one reference should be from a supervisor Letter of interest * * In the cover letter, specifically address how your background meets the preferred qualifications listed above.
