Care Advocate
The University of Pittsburgh, Division of Student Affairs and the Office for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (OIED) is seeking a qualified Care Advocate to join the Care and Resource Support Office within the Division of Student Affairs. Care Advocate will serve as a trauma informed point of contact for all students who are seeking confidential support advocacy support, referrals, and/or information involving sexual misconduct or civil rights concerns.
Led by Vice Provost for Student Affairs, the Division of Student Affairs is composed of five teams to prepare and empower students to thrive and make meaningful contributions in our global community. Student Affairs staff are committed to fostering inclusive excellence and student success by cultivating belonging, engagement, well-being, and learning. Under the leadership of the Vice Chancellor for Equity Diversity and Inclusion, OEDI strives to advance Pitt’s efforts to embed diversity as a transformational force in academic excellence and professional growth through education, the celebration of diversity, and the fair and objective response to complaints and concerns.
Assumes a primary role in the assessment, therapeutic services, referral, and case management of students in need. Facilitates crisis management, outreach, student-related emergency protocols, and student grievance interventions. Acts as student advocate at an administrative level.
Care Advocate provides confidential support for students who have experienced sexual misconduct, harassment, and/or discrimination or who have been named as a respondent in a sexual misconduct, harassment, or discrimination matter. The incumbent will also assist the Sexual Violence Prevention and Education Office to provide training and outreach for support and advocacy.
The physical requirements for this position are to be able sit or stand for prolonged periods of time and attend meetings or events at various locations
on and off campus, as well as virtually.
