The University of Miami's Office of Civic and Community Engagement (CCE) Senior Program Manager will be responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating activities of designated projects related to community development, affordable housing, and climate resilience; conducting and overseeing research for affordable housing, community development, and climate resilience projects; ensuring the event / project goals and objectives are accomplished within the prescribed time frame and funding parameters; and building relationships with public, private, and non-profit community partners. In addition, the Senior Program Manager will oversee and coordinate collaborative projects with consultants and community partners; oversee all aspects of grant projects with the Department of Public Housing and Community Development; assist in hiring process for VISTAs/grad students; train VISTAs/grad students in data collection, analysis, and GIS platforms; represent CCE at community meetings; seek out new grant opportunities; provide administrative support for grants and public programs; and meet regularly with the Founding Director to provide an update on project status and new opportunities for CCE.
The Senior Program Manager will have a research background with experience in quantitative and qualitative research methods and policy analysis in a community development-related field, the ability to communicate effectively through written reports and public presentations, experience working with community-based organizations, and program management experience. The Senior Program Manager reports to the Founding Director for Civic and Community Engagement.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
•Designing scope of research and programs, developing project work plans and arranging for recruitment and assignment of resources to execute projects.
•Maintaining and developing relationships with community partners in housing, community development, and urban resilience for conducting joint projects and facilitating access to CCE programming.
•Developing and coordinating project activities with collaborating University departments.
•Gathering and analyzing housing, climate, and demographic data from public agencies and working with software engineers and GIS specialists to maintain and update all aspects of the Miami Housing Solutions Lab and any new online mapping platforms.
•Presenting and training public officials, community leaders and private sector organizations in uses of online mapping tools.
•Overseeing the preparation of agendas, preparing documents, and logistics, and following up for project-related community partner and departmental meetings.
•Overseeing and coordinating both existing and new community partner relationships.
•Completing all phases of grant writing, implementation, and reporting.
•Seeking out new sources of grant funding.
•Representing CCE at community meetings.
•Taking leading role in implementation of CCE housing and resilience projects, in collaboration with Associate Director.
•Assisting other departments on special projects, promotions, duties, etc., as needed or requested.
•Serving as main point of contact for student assistants and being available to assist with inquiries.
•Preparing, maintaining, and reporting on program effectiveness.
•Assisting with managing program budget by monitoring expenditures.
•Stays abreast of market trends and legislation impacting program functions.
•Checking, verifying, organizing, and preparing grants, procurement, and other program relevant documents.
•May supervise, monitor, train, and evaluate program staff members to ensure compliance with applicable policies and procedures.
•Working with other departments to increase program visibility and awareness.
•Identifying new needs and emerging issues and develops new programs, initiatives, and resources.
Minimum Qualifications
•Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred in social science, public policy, urban planning or related field and five years of appropriate experience. Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience and/or certifications may be considered.
•Experience in quantitative data analysis
•Effective oral and written communication skills
•Effective organizational skills

•Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite applications (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.)
•GIS experience
•Qualitative research methods
•Experience with non-profit organizations and government agencies

•Grant writing experience
