Job Description:
This position will assist with water and plankton sample collection and processing from boats and docks, laboratory experiments, and data analysis. Specific laboratory analyses will include but are not limited to microscopic analysis, data analysis and management, report writing, and general laboratory and field equipment operation and maintenance. The research will be in collaboration with Dr. Nicole Millette at the Virginia Institue of Marine Science. The position will be full-time with minimal flexibility for remote work.
Job duties include but are not limited to: Field collection and processing of water and plankton samples from boats and docks; laboratory analysis of plankton samples for taxonomy, abundance, and size; laboratory experiments on plankton feeding; computer data analysis and data management; contributions to report writing; laboratory and field equipment operation and maintenance.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in environmental science, zoology, biology or related field, with two years of research experience in environmental science, oceanography, marine science, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with microscopy and field marine science.
Physical Demands:
The position will require long days in the field on boats or outside in the summer and carrying relatively heavy supplies and equipment. Will require travel with overnight stays.
