The University of Alabama is Hiring a Continuing Student Temporary Assistant - 522610 Near Tuscaloosa, AL

Pay Grade/Pay Range: Not Graded

Department/Organization: 214221 - Chemical and Biological Eng

Normal Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am to 4:45pm

Job Summary: The Continuing Student Temporary Assistant is for recent UA graduates or students temporarily ineligible for student employment (due to enrolment, etc.) who are continuing the work of their student role at the University for a short-term assignment (less than one year). Performs various duties with some variety and complexity for a college or department in support of a program, project, event or other sponsored activity.

Additional Department Summary: Works with Dr. Jason Bara on the depolymerization of waste plastics including PET and polyurethanes for isolation of new small molecules and synthesis of new polymers.

Required Minimum Qualifications: Some UA student employment experience performing the same work for the department.

Skills and Knowledge: Ability to work on a personal computer including Microsoft Word and Excel. Ability to follow directions. Ability to perform laboratory tasks under direct supervision of a faculty mentor.

Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, chemistry, or a related field.
