Purpose of the Position:
The Information Systems Analyst III analyzes user information technology needs; developing and maintaining data processing systems and relational database applications; working in a team environment in achieving responsibilities; providing ad-hoc reporting; and performing related work.
Duties/Responsibilities
  • Maintain and support existing software programs, applications and systems
  • Analyze Business and information needs.
  • Develop ad hoc reports
  • Execute production processes and distribute output
  • Write and maintain documentation to describe program development , logic, coding, testing, changes, and corrections
  • Troubleshoot application errors and revise programs
  • Resolve end user issues verbally and in writing
  • Automate program submissions
  • Follow established security measures for procedures and file creation and transfer
  • Implement electronic processes for improved workflow of supported departments
  • Assist functional end user with their business processes with respect to supported applications
  • Possess an understanding of the composition of a major ERP system
  • Maintain relationships with peers both internally and with other institutions
  • Create programs, reports and data objects based on the needs of users
  • Consult with users to gather information about program needs, objectives , functions, features, and input and output requirements.
  • Create test data and conduct tests of applications
  • Assist with the design and development of applications and their data structures
  • Work independently with users to solve critical problems on an ad hoc basis without supervisor support.
  • Perform status reporting and meet implementation deadlines.
  • Act in a supporting role on project teams.
  • Provide regular status updates on assigned project tasks.
  • Participate fully in project meetings by providing input on such items as discovery questions, project charter, policies and recommendations.
  • Maintain currency in product technology (relational database, operating system, programming languages, Enterprise Resource Planning Systems (Ellucian Banner), PC and Web applications)
  • Learning and using software as new releases come out.
  • Assist in providing end user documentation and training.
  • Keep abreast of related technological advances, trends and best-practices.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science (CS) or Management Information Systems (MIS), and 4-6 years of full-time verifiable programming work experience, or an equivalent program, or an equivalent combination of education and years of experience
  • Experience with Business Intelligence analysis and display tools, e.g., Oracle Discoverer, Argos, Cognos, or equivalent; SQL, Unix, Linux Scripting, Oracle Relational Database experience
Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience with Ellucian's Banner or similar higher education enterprise management product is preferred
  • Experience with PL/SQL and Java is desired
  • Experience in higher education is preferred
  • 1 - 2 years of web development is desired

$60,000 - $65,000
