Our team is growing again, and we are looking to add a Logistics Specialist to our Supply Chain Team.

The Logistics Specialist manages all third party domestic logistics movement, distribution, and storage transactions. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to processing on time delivery of fresh and frozen orders to customers, maximizing the customer service experience, managing contact with third party vendors and independent contractors, ensuring coverage of all trucking routes while maximizing cost efficiency.

Principal Duties:

  • Owns the customer facing domestic logistics process
  • Collaborates with outside dry and cold storage, completes necessary paperwork, and provides necessary documentation for domestic deliveries
  • Conducts data collection and entry into Excel and Sharepoint Inventory Reports
  • Cultivates close working relationship with Inside Sales Supervisor through meetings and phone calls
  • Meets with existing and new carriers regarding rates and available freight lanes
  • Maintains strong relationships with cold storage and transportation vendors re: order fulfillment and transportation, meeting quarterly in person
  • Proactively engages key coworkers to successfully deliver orders per customer requests and time constraints
  • Continually updates and evaluates freight costs and transportation rates; and submits bid requests to carriers monthly
  • Absorbs correct rates onto Cost of Goods Sold; and tracks and corrects shipping errors and costs
  • Provides Proof of Deliveries (PODs) to Sales and Finance when requested
  • Processes and allocates frozen orders
  • Processes return shipments and works collaboratively with Quality and Finance for accurate invoicing and credit processing on a rolling basis
  • Supports and cross-trains in international logistics, such as printing labels and preparing shipments
  • Processes receipts into cold storage, closing batch transfers and placing holds on sensitive inventory
  • Manages rework requests with Operations and Supply Chain departments
  • Oversees accurate loading and unloading of trucks
  • Responsible for all internal and third party logistics (3PL) and transportation activities including product movement between locations and outbound shipments to domestic markets
  • Develops and reports on department Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
  • Collaborates with Sales team on projections and strategic planning
  • Effectively uses the internal ERP system, Logistics SharePoint page, and others as needed
  • Provides current industry feedback and strategy to Global Logistics Manager
  • Performs additional job-related duties as assigned
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree or relevant work experience in logistics, supply chain, or inventory management
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in domestic logistics
  • Self-starter driven to take initiative
  • Organized and detailed work habits and excellent time management skills
  • Ability to work well under rapidly changing and demanding time constraints
  • Professional and effective communication skills (verbal and written) to work closely internally and externally via phone, in-person meetings and email
  • Customer service mindset with motivation to prevent and correct issues
  • Collaborative approach, with an ability to see other perspectives and work together to problem solve
  • Curiosity to have understanding of the full process to able to make improvements
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel, and ability to learn ERP system
  • Ability to work independently and cross-functionally
  • High attention to detail with an ability to perform critical review of various types of documents
  • Comfortable with repetitive tasks and able to sit for long periods of time
  • A strong belief and commitment to continuous learning and improvement, positive attitude, teamwork, accountability, and ethical behavior
