Responsibilities:
- Assist attorneys in preparing legal documents such as contracts, briefs, and pleadings
- Conduct legal research and gather relevant information for cases
- Organize and maintain legal files and documents
- Prepare and file legal documents with the court system
- Schedule appointments, meetings, and depositions for attorneys
- Communicate with clients, witnesses, and other parties involved in legal matters
- Manage calendars and deadlines for multiple cases
- Provide administrative support to attorneys as needed
Skills:
- Strong phone etiquette and communication skills
- Proficient in using document management systems and legal software
- Excellent data entry skills with a high level of accuracy
- Ability to transcribe legal documents and correspondence
- Familiarity with document review processes and procedures
- Knowledge of legal research tools such as Lexis-Nexis or Westlaw
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Attention to detail in reviewing and proofreading legal documents
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
- Previous experience in a paralegal or legal assistant role is preferred
