SUMMARY:
Compiles payroll data to maintain payroll records.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Generates payroll data reports such as hours worked, 401(k), vacation and sick leave accruals, health benefits, wages, and others for the Human Resources Department, and the Accounting Manager.
Enters changes to the employee database such as: adding/terminating employees, pay rates, insurance deductions, W-4 exemptions, new addresses/phone numbers, other employee benefits, etc.
Enters pay information for the current pay period such as hours worked and earnings. Transmits this information to ADP.
Processes manual checks in emergency situations.
Processes employment verification forms (mortgage companies, government agencies, etc.) and other payroll inquiries.
Processes employee direct deposits.
Maintains and controls vacation and sick accruals and personal day log.
Interfaces with the Human Resources Department on payroll related issues.
Processes wage garnishments including payroll deductions and payments to the appropriate entities.
Prepares monthly journal entries.
Prepares and transmits 401(k) contributions to the 401(k) administrator.
Operates AMG and monitors the activity of the authorized remote users.
Processes the payroll operations manually when the automated AMG System fails to perform.
Provides troubleshooting support to users on the AMG System.
Verifies and audits biweekly employee timecards for accuracy and follows up with Supervisors/Managers/users for additional necessary corrections.
Attends to other matters which the Accounting Manager and/or the Finance Director may assign from time to time.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) major in Accounting from four year college or university and two years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write reports and correspondence.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to apply mathematical concepts such as fractions, proportions, percentages, and ratios to practical situations.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
Knowledge of Accounting software; Payroll systems; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to solve practical problems. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Certificate in American Payroll Auditing; Fundamental Payroll Certificate (FPC); and/or Certified Payroll Proficient (CPP) is a plus
