Audio Visual Technician (AV Tech)
DEPARTMENT: Food & Beverage
REPORTS TO: AV- IT Manager
STATUS: Non-Exempt

Job Summary

The Audio Visual (A/V) Technician (Tech) is responsible for setting, managing, and tear-down of all aspects of event operations that require A/V equipment, such as sound, lighting, and video. He/she performs the duties as necessary for the safe and efficient operations of the events while providing excellent service to our clients.
Job Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • At least 3 years’ experience of audio-visual experience in a hotel, conference center, or a related field.
  • The following experience is preferred:
    • Ability to design, spec, install, and operate a variety of professional audio and video equipment.
    • Proficiency with projectors, projection screens, seamless switchers, cameras, video distribution systems, live streaming, and lighting.
    • Basic understanding of Creston systems.
    • General knowledge of proper rigging techniques.
    • General knowledge in running sound for live music events, mixing, sound levels, running wireless transmitters, and the production of an event, music concert or show.

General Requirements:
  • Maintain a warm and friendly demeanor at all times.

  • Must be effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying concerns raised by associates and guests.
  • Must be able to multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines.
  • Attend all property required meetings and trainings.
  • Maintain regular attendance in compliance with AT Hospitality standards, as required by scheduling, which will vary according to the needs of the property.
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which include wearing nametags.
  • Comply with AT Hospitality regulations to encourage safe and efficient property operations.
  • Maximize efforts towards productivity, identify problem areas, and assist in implementing solutions.
  • Must be effective in handling problems, including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and solving problems as necessary.
  • Must be able to understand and evaluate complex information, data, A/V technologies, etc. from various sources to meet appropriate objectives.
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality of information.
  • Perform other duties as requested by management.
Job Functions & Duties
  • The AV Tech is responsible for setting, running, & coordinating all aspects of our A/V operations. Set up & tech live events, corporate meetings, shows, and other events.
  • Setup, monitor, and maintain all technical equipment in the facility regarding but not limited to audio, video, lighting, staging, rigging, and event operations.
  • Provide installation, and repairs on services such as cable feeds, audio, and video being either event related or structural.
  • Provide assistance in event A/V set-up and operations in accordance with facilities SOPs. and client requirements—including the use of advanced A/V and lighting equipment such as robotic cameras, production switchers, webcasting encoders, and projectors/laptop display equipment.
  • Correctly use and apply test equipment to verify problems to the facility systems.
  • Maintain inventory, maintenance, & repair of all audio and video equipment.
  • Perform event standby and troubleshoots technical problems in real time situations.
  • Work with the sales team and clients to create inspiring environments through audio visual production.
  • Must have the ability to work across a variety of event formats from breakouts, general sessions, tradeshows, and social events.
  • Responsible for the set-up, operation, and tear down of all types of A/V equipment, including rigging and lighting.
  • Maintain timeline for production to ensure event planning stays on schedule.
  • Work with the AV-IT Manager and keep them informed of issues as they arise.
  • Communicate on-site changes from client to event team.
  • Ability to trouble-shoot Crestron, internal A/V, lighting program.
  • Ability to integrate with point-of-sale system such as our inventory software when scanning equipment in and out.
  • Assist in monitoring all phases of Loss Prevention in the A/V department.
