The Sterling School, a special education elementary school in Cobble Hill, Brooklyn is looking to hire a 5th/6th grade teacher for 2024/2024 school year. Our students have language based learning disabilities and some have ADHD. The ideal candidate would hold a masters degree in special education and have or be able to get NYS certification. We are looking for someone who takes initiative, is creative, patient, flexible, and a team player open to collaborate with colleagues across disciplines. We are a 10 month program (summer's off). Classes are capped at 10 students so teachers have the opportunity to make a big impact on their students' learning.

Responsibilities include:

- Utilize a variety of teaching techniques to meet the diverse learning styles of our students.

- Monitor and assess student progress, adjusting teaching strategies as needed to ensure academic and social success.

- Stay current on best practices in special education and incorporate them into daily lesson planning.

- Provide a safe and nurturing learning environment that fosters independence and self-confidence in students.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $75,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
