MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Willingness and ability to work weekends and holidays.
  • One (1) year of clerical experience (college education/vocational training can substitute for experience).
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English: reading, writing, speaking, and understanding.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledgeable in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Word, Excel, and Outlook).
  • Successful completion of the employment screening process to include, but not limited to, a national background investigation and drug test.‎

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Receptionist experience in a medical setting or long-term care facility.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The incumbent will be responsible for handling front office reception and administrative duties, which include assisting the general public; customers; visitors; and other interested parties. Handles cash and assists with resident meal funds. The incumbent is expected to remain calm in emergency situations and be capable of using an overhead PA system for announcements.

  • Greet visitors to the facility in a courteous manner.
  • Provide limited information to the general public regarding services rendered at the State Veterans' Nursing Home.
  • Answer and route incoming and in-house calls.
  • Take and deliver accurate messages to appropriate staff members in a timely fashion.
  • Maintain order in the reception area provides magazines and other reading material to visitors as well as residents.
  • Ensure adequate lighting and comfortable room temperatures are maintained within the reception area.
  • Ensure at all times Residents' Rights as well as Resident confidentially is protected.
  • Prepare letters, reports, forms, and other documents, assuring that they are accurate and timely.
  • Deliver medication received via the mail immediately to the respective section.
  • Assist families and visitors with meal receipts, and with the purchasing of meals.
  • Coordinate mail flow in and out of the office, along with collecting and distributing parcels.
  • Perform basic bookkeeping, filing, cash handling and clerical duties.
  • Perform other routine office duties as instructed by supervisor.
