The Save Mart Companies is Hiring a GENERALIST, LABOR RELATIONS Near Modesto, CA

The Labor Relations Generalist is responsible for providing key support for all aspects of the department in the facilitation of the administration of all collective bargaining agreements. These responsibilities include work force data collection, pre-negotiation contract analysis, cost and predictive modeling, trust data analysis/reporting, arbitration research and grievance research.
The Labor Relations Generalist provides the Labor Relations team members and senior leadership with data and statistical analysis of the union represented work force for all banners, distribution centers and office support, as well as the statistical analysis of the UFCW and Teamster health & welfare and pension trusts that the company supports. The generalist collaborates and supports Labor Relations, Human Resources, and other leadership.
The Labor Relations Generalist ensures that all labor relations matters and activities are conducted in a manner consistent with Company strategies, operational and business objectives, and Company core values.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Assist with the administration of labor relations policies and agreements
  • Ensure adherence to established policies and practices
  • Coordinate implementation, documentation, and reporting for administration of labor relations
  • Administer contractual wages, employee welfare, pensions, health care, union and management practices
  • Assist with coordination and support activities for the Labor Relations department, including tracking and maintaining all Labor Department documents, Health and
  • Welfare/Pension materials, and union clerk activity during special assignments
  • Communicate and facilitate Agreement tracking and executed documents
  • Maintain Labor Department history for reference
  • Assist with administration of the Collective Bargaining Arbitration process
  • Coordinate and organize labor relations training
  • Research and prepare reports on labor relation issues using Database tracking
  • Provide support for labor contract negotiations, including coordinating all meetings for negotiations, Trust Funds, etc., and tracking and maintaining bargaining agreements
  • Maintain data reports and ensure accuracy of information
  • Prepare, copy, and distribute documents, reports, contracts, and agreements as needed
  • Provide general office support and assist with general requests from department staff such as filing, correspondence, data entry and compiling data
  • Tracks and monitors grievance activity; identifies trends and develops effective strategies to reduce grievances, disputes or ULPs (Unfair Labor Practices)
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):

  • Excellent organizational, research, and analytical skills
  • Communication (written and verbal) skills
  • Demonstrated ability to be diplomatic and tactful in communications
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize with various demands of deadlines on time
  • Intermediate computer skills (Microsoft Word and Excel)
  • Working knowledge of internal computer applications (e.g. HRIS, Time and Attendance, etc.)
  • Prior knowledge of labor relations and collective bargaining agreements helpful
  • Ability to deal effectively with a variety of Company and outside personnel
  • Experienced in analytics, data mining, and statistical analysis
  • Survey, research, data modeling and predictive modeling skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills

Education: Two-year college degree (or equivalent knowledge gained through formal education, specialized training, or additional job experience)

Experience: Two years of related experience

Other: Maintain timely and regular attendance. Must be able to work overtime, when needed.
Physical: Basic office and store environment: ability to sit, stand, walk, kneel, stoop, use stairs, reach, pull and lift objects
