The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith-based organization, has an opening for a Summer Day Camp Program Aide for the Louisville South Corps, located in Louisville, Kentucky.
Job Summary
Assists in facilitating and monitoring assigned recreational activities of the Community Center programs for Summer Camp. Supervises and provides homework tutoring; transports patrons to and from the Community Center programs &events; assists in maintaining facilities, equipment, and grounds.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of the Program Aide job descriptions and ability to implement same. Knowledge of the standard rules and techniques of organized group games such as basketball, kickball, soccer, or football. Knowledge of accepted and safe first aid procedures. Ability to build effective and positive relationships with people of all ages. Ability to lead and motivate people participating in recreational activities. Employees in this position must meet all DOT requirements for vehicles associated with this position at all times
Education and Experience
High school diploma or G.E.D. and six months experience coaching and supervising athletic events and experience maintaining grounds, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Certifications:
Valid Driver's License (Must meet The Salvation Army’s guidelines to be approved as a driver.)
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
Ability to meet attendance requirements. Must be able to work all hours assigned including but not limited to After School program, School Fall, Spring and Summer breaks as well as bad weather days.
Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.
Duties are usually performed by combinations of sitting, standing, and walking on a frequent change basis.
