The Salvation Army Mission:

Job Obiective:

Assists Store Manager with the store staff; production and sales; store maintenance; customer

development; banking and record keeping procedures. Supports Manager in all day to day

operations of assigned thrift store.

Essential Functions:

This job description should not be interpreted as all inclusive. lt is intended to identifo the essential

- Supports staff training and supervision as assigned.

o Participates in recruiting and interviewing staff for store as assigned.

o Participates in scheduling of staff, monitors accuracy and submits payroll for processing as

assigned.

o Ensure that all TSA policies and practices conceming employee relations are complied

with.

o Promptly forwards all employment related paperwork to the HR Department at the ARC.

o provided training, supervision and support to beneficiaries that are assigned to the store as

part of their work theraPY. \

- Supports implementation of strategies to meet production and sales goals.

o Supervises the product acquisition (donation) processes, production (sorting, hanging,

pricing and presentation) processes and sales processes'

o Supervises and is proficient in all parts of the acquisition, production and sales processeso supervises the product rotation process and is diligent in tuming product over.

o Communicates with central warehouse to place orders for next day's processing needs.

Assist manager with the store maintenance and appearance of the store with regard to safety,

security, cleanliness, appearance and utility.

-Ensures that the store is in compliance with all OSHA and Salvation Army safety and security

policies and procedures.

o Checks to make sure displays and floor layout plans are being followed and updaled.

o ldentifr and communicate with manager ways to improve appearance and appeal of store

to customers.

o lmplement Product Control Procedures preventing shrinkage through theft or spoilage.

o Promptly reports all maintenance or repair needs and issues to the store manager and

when unavailable the appropriate personnel at the ARC.

lmplements customer development and retention plans.

o Creates an enjoyable shopping experience.

o lnteracts positively with customers, setting the example for all staff.

Assist the manager in recordkeeping and reporting procedures for the store.

o Applies TSA approved cash handling procedures for opening and closing of registers.

o Assists in the management of the bank runs and deposit procedures for the store.

o Reports Store production and sales as assigned.

o Uses inventory tracking as assigned.

Communicates with the Store Manager regarding all facets of the stores operations keeping

them updated and sharing all incidents, concems and ideas; and with ARC Department Heads

as outlined in training as assigned.

ln conjunction with the store manager works to keep income and expenses within budget

parameters.

o Manages cash handling procedures in accordance with TSA Policy.

Must be available for a flexible schedule to work early shifts, late shifts, and most weekends, in

order to observe and provide training to all store employees.

ln conjunction with the store manager proactively works to improve the image of The Salvation

Army among staff and in the community.

o Creates a positive understanding of policies and procedures.

o Redirects complaints and criticism, by providing education and understanding of the

program and pricing.

Protects the resources under their supervision.

o lmplement Product Control Procedures preventing shrinkage through theft or spoilage.

o Control property, utility and product supply waste.

All other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

The requirements listed below are represntative of the minimal education, experience, skills, and/or

abilities required for this position.

Edu cation & Experience: High School Degree or Equivalent. 2 years of retail experience, thrift

experience is a plus. Associates Degree a plus.

Certifications: Valid Driver's License. Able to drive on behalf of The Salvation Army per Salvation

Skills/Abilities

Ability to speak, write and understand English in a manner sufficient for effective communication

with customers, management and co workers.

Basic computer skills including but not limited to the use of the Point of Sales System; the payroll

program and all other programs or systems that are adopted by the TSA ARC.

Ability to give change accurately.

Good speaking, hearing and vision ability, and excellent manual dexterity.

Supervisory Responsibility:

- Supports the training and supervision the store staff.

- Documenl and provide information requested about direct reports to store manager for a

personnel review and corrective action.

- Review and approve time and attendance for store personnel using the current payroll system

Checks time logs regularly. Following all current regulations and trainings.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift andlor move up

to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and

ability to adjust focus.

The work environment for this position is a store environment with a quiet to moderate noise levet.

The environment may be dusty and may experience temperature fluctuations based on weather. May

stand for extended periods

May be required to travel to various locations for work or training
