The Salvation Army is Hiring an After School Tutor (NWCC) Near Beach, FL

Location: After School Tutor/Northwest Community Center/WPB, Florida
Position Type: Regular – Full Time (Non-Exempt)
Pay Range: $15.22 p/h.
About this opportunity: Key responsibilities:
Utilizes educational tools (flashcards, charts, educational games, worksheets, textbooks, etc.) in order to explain, teach and/or review educational skills according to the needs of the students (individually or in small groups).
Plans and prepares curriculum for each child for each tutoring session; obtains diagnostic test results from teachers if available.
Directs the efforts and the talents of the Tutor's Aide to ensure children receive adequate attention.
Confers with the student's classroom teacher, parents, and Latch-Key Coordinator to plan an individualized program for each child through conferences and meetings.
Schedules consultation time with classroom teacher as needed to coordinate remedial efforts and monitor on-going progress of students; records and logs a summary of the information learned. Schedules conference time with parents to discuss the student's academic development and progress.
What we are looking for in you:
High school diploma
or
G.E.D
and one year experience teaching school aged children basic academics, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Ability to meet attendance requirements.
Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.
Ability to travel to student's schools in order to meet with teachers.
Ability to remain and become certified for job specific certifications and training.
Moderate mobility: duties are usually performed by combinations of sitting, standing, and walking on a frequent change basis.
Works is performed in a normal classroom or office environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like and outside in a playground environment where there may be some discomfort associated with dirt.
Work requires occasional travel to schools which may involve exposure to changes in weather and/or heavy traffic.
