Job Summary: Drive Salvation Army trucks to scheduled route to pick up donations and deliver merchandise to customers; operates the truck in compliance with established Salvation Army standards and state driving regulations: lifts carry, loads, and unloads a variety of donations, including furniture, appliances, clothing, etc.; ensures the safety, security, and accountability of the vehicle and contributions at all times; assists in performing work in the thrift store and warehouse. Additionally, assist in maintaining the orderliness and cleanliness of the warehouse area. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: Education and Experience High School diploma or G.E.D. and experience working in a retail store preferred. and One year of experience driving a heavy-duty truck or large van or Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Certifications/Licenses: Valid Driver’s License with a DOT Health Card or the ability to get such a card. CDL is a plus but not required. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of the assigned geographical area. Ability to read and follow a map and handwritten directions. Ability to drive a heavy-duty truck. Knowledge of effective customer service techniques Knowledge of the principles and practices of basic mathematics Ability to sort items by established categories. Ability to operate a cash register. Ability to determine the condition of items by established standards. Ability to follow instructions and work independently. Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with co-workers. Physical Requirements: Ability to meet attendance requirements. Ability to read, write, and communicate in the English language. Ability to lift and carry moderate to heavy objects (up to 50 lbs.) Ability to stand, walk, sit, and stand for extended periods and on a frequent change basis.
