Job Title: BookkeeperLocation: Annapolis, Maryland Corps Position Type: full-time (35 hours)Pay Rate: $18.00 About this opportunity:The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith-based organization, has a job opening for a Bookkeeper for the Annapolis, Maryland Corps. Qualified candidates will:post and maintain a variety of ledgers; enter income and expense data into computerized financial systems; proof entries to verify accuracy and completeness; prepare and make journal entries, balances accounts, and prepare reports.transfers totals from ledger accounts to routine financial statements; prepares journal vouchers and posts data from general ledger to monthly financial reports - Income & Expense Statement, Balance Sheet, Bank Reconciliation, Mileage, Self-Denial, Accounts Receivable and Payable Reports, etc.prepare fines and restitution checks; process vouchers; enter data into the computer and print checks to pay fines; obtain authorized signatures on checks and distribute checks; prepare and files necessary back-up paperwork.post and maintain accounts payable ledger;receive, date, stamp, obtain approval stamp, and code all invoices; match invoices with appropriate back-up paperwork and purchase order; enter data into the accounts payable system;run reports weekly to determine bills that are due; enter cash payments into the computer; run checks, record disbursements in all cash ledgers, and distribute checks.post and maintain accounts receivable ledger; receive invoice payments and verify amount due; prepare receipt, stamp check, post payment, run reports, and complete and file deposit slip; determine source of funds and make appropriate entry into cash books; maintain records of amounts receivable from Divisional Headquarters, Territorial Headquarters, other units, and vendors; What we are looking for in you: EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCETwo (2) year college or technical school degree in accounting, bookkeeping, business, or related field, AND two (2) years’ experience in the performance of bookkeeping and related work with some exposure to data entry methods; experience with Sage Intacct, preferred; OR any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONSDriver’s License required PHYSICAL, MENTAL REQUIREMENTS Ability to meet attendance requirements.Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.Ability to keypunch information into a computer.Ability to sort and file documents alphabetically and numerically.Ability to perform routine and complex mathematical computations repeatedly, rapidly, and accurately.Ability to operate various general office equipment including a computer and 10-key calculator.Ability to work well under the pressure of deadlines.Ability to follow instructions and work independently with limited supervision.Ability to work on multiple projects effectively and efficiently at the same time without becoming frustrated or disorganized.Duties are usually performed seated. Sitting may be relieved by brief or occasional periods of standing or walking. Limited amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting, and carrying light objects (less than 25 lbs.) 5-10% of work time.
