The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith-based organization, has a job opening for a temporary Day Camp Coordinator for the Jackson MS Corps, located in Jackson, MS. Job Summary:Coordinates, leads and monitors the day camp programmatic operations of a Salvation Army Corps; implements previously planned programs and services under the direction of the assigned supervisor; complies with established policies and procedures as well as local, state, and federal regulations. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Knowledge of the principles and practices of Child Behavior and Development. Knowledge and ability to meet all health and safety regulations as defined by the Health Department and The Salvation Army. Ability to ensure compliance of health and safety regulations by Center members and program participants. Knowledge of principles and practices of education and child development consistent with the Family Haven and The Salvation Army. Knowledge of effective communication and motivation practices. Ability to lead and motivate subordinate staff. Ability to work independently. Ability to implement and enforce program policies and procedures. Ability to meet quality standards and deadlines. Ability to maintain effective and professional working relationships with campers and parents. Experience and Education:High school diploma or G.E.D. required, and one year administering similar programs, with two years of experience teaching child development programs or camps Licenses and Certifications:Valid Driver’s License. C.P.R. and First Aid Certification. Documentation completed for the Letter of Suitability from the State of Mississippi required within 10 days of employment. Statement of successful completion of criminal, child abuse and sex offender background checks required for continued employment. Employee will not be alone with children until the Letter of Suitability is received. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:Ability to meet attendance requirements. Ability to read, write and communicate the English language. Ability to perform duties with a combination of frequent sitting, standing and walking.
