The Salvation Army - NJ Division is Hiring a Case Manager Near Red Bank, NJ

Essential Function

To provide case management for the Red Bank Corps social service programs under the direction of the Corps Officer with professional supervision provided by Divisional Headquarters Human Services Staff when requested. The Case Manager will be able to identify the needs of the clients served and provide outreach within the community at large.

Duties and Responsibilities

The duties listed below are the primary duties of this position but are not all the required duties. Client Assistance – Food Pantry, POH, Seasonal

  • Manage food pantry operation, including distribution, inventory, ordering, paperwork, and reports.
  • Perform intakes, interviews, and assessments of clients’ needs and perform follow-up case management for other supportive programs beyond emergency assistance if needed.
  • Identify and interact with clients, providing comprehensive case management. This includes but is not limited to assessment of client needs, development of a strengths-based action plan, and identification of internal and external resources that support a pathway to self-sufficiency.
  • Support the Pathway of Hope Initiative through enrollment of eligible families with children under 18 who are living in generational/chronic poverty and provision of the above case management in conjunction with the Pathway of Hope policies and procedures.
  • Assist Corps Officer(s) with special events or seasonal social service ministries, which may include tasks such as intake application, preparation for distribution, coordination of volunteers.
  • Refer clients in need of pastoral care to Corps Officers for follow-up and partner with Corps Officers to link families and individuals to other services and programs the Corps provides.

Community Resources and Referrals

  • Establish and strengthen collaborations with community agencies as a client advocate, maximizing the ability to support informed decision-making for clients and provide resources for holistic care.
  • Represent the Salvation Army at community meetings as assigned, providing feedback and information beneficial to the operation and service of the Corps.
  • Maintain and regularly update a roster of Community Resources for referrals to distribute to clients.
  • Assist Corps Officers in overseeing volunteers, community service workers and social services interns.

Administrative or Other Tasks

  • Provide task supervision to social service students fulfilling internship requirements at TSA Red Bank Corps and provide all necessary communication and documentation for respective colleges and universities; Partnering with DHQ Human Resources as needed to fulfill licensing requirements.
  • Maintain accurate, current, and confidential case records in accordance with The Salvation Army record keeping policies and procedures.
  • Ensure accurate and timely submission of statistics, records, and reports in applicable databases as requested by the Corps Officers.
  • Participate in regular staff meetings and trainings as required.
  • Uphold the standards and principles of The Salvation Army’s mission and ministry.
  • Other duties within the scope of the role as assigned by supervisors.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling or Human Services related field, from an accredited institution. Related experience may be considered.
  • At least 1 to 2 years of experience in case management or counseling.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and professional demeanor.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team.
  • Familiarity with using Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel)
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of interactions with clients and fellow employees.
  • Awareness and sensitivity to cultural and socioeconomic characteristics of populations served.
  • Must understand and promote the mission of The Salvation Army.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $21.00 - $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 28 per week
