The Salvation Army Golden State Division is Hiring a Housing Coordinator Near San Jose, CA

OVERVIEW:

The Housing Coordinator will provide support and guidance to the receptionist, intake and assessment specialists, and case managers to help determine the services clients are eligible for. The Housing Coordinator will work in collaboration with the Director of Social Services to ensure that clients are being served, staff are being supported, and contract goals are met. The Housing Coordinator must have expertise in providing rental assistance, and other financial assistance related to preventing homelessness.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervision and daily operation of Family Services including daily schedule of Family Services staff
  • Manage and assign client applications to staff to ensure prompt and accurate completion
  • Manage and supervise client files on paper/electronically to ensure accuracy and confidentiality
  • Ensure that required and needed referrals are made to secure necessary services and support for clients
  • Act as a hub for all information about the clients assisted through different rental assistance programs
  • Maintain strong working relationships with other agencies and attend meetings/trainings.
  • Complete all reports to funders as well as any WellSky reports requested (ie: Stats)
  • Provide backup coverage for conducting any rental pre-screening, screening, and/or HPAT.
  • Provide new staff training related to all aspects of Family Services.
  • Review rental packet and required documentation to confirm clients meet eligibility criteria and application/file are complete.
  • Process and approve all rental applications through necessary channels within required timeframe.
  • Monitor grant funding (Financial Tracker) and keep Director updated.
  • Work with assigned staff to ensure all necessary information is entered into clarity HMIS database and internal TSA WellSky software.
  • Ensure contract compliance with all funders.
  • Knowledgeable and up-to-date with all policies and procedures as they pertain to Social Services.
  • Plan and execute special Social Services events in coordination with the Volunteer Coordinator, Director of Social Services, and Event Coordinator.
  • Attend all required staff meetings/trainings and lead department meetings
  • Other related duties as required

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Four-year degree in social work or related degree (Preferred); social service and leadership experience will be considered in place of degree
  • Experience with Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) (Preferred)
  • Experience working with people from diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds who are homeless and/or economically disadvantaged (Preferred)

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Bilingual in Spanish or Vietnamese preferred
  • Administrative skills including but not limited to computer literate in Microsoft Office, filing, phone and email, use of office machines, record keeping and data entry
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to multi-task
  • Ability to maintain good rapport and communication with staff members in other agencies

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
