The Saginaw Art Museum & Temple Theatre is Hiring an Accountant Near Saginaw, MI

TempleArts, dba Saginaw Art Museum, The Temple Theatre and Shaheen Performing Arts Center, has an immediate opening for an in-person, part-time (15-25 hours / week) Accountant located at our museum. This position will report directly to the Controller.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

Vendor management

· Creation of new and maintenance of existing vendors in accounting system.

· Follow-up and obtain required tax and reporting forms and information.

· Complete customer profile requests from vendors.

Accounts Payable

· Review invoices and secure appropriate approvals for payments.

· Follow-up to obtain invoice support and resolution of discrepancies.

· Code invoices, autopayments and credit card receipts for expense classification and enter in accounting system.

· Print checks for review and approval.

General Accounting and Other

· Monitor accounting functional email and follow-up as necessary.

· Preparation of daily and weekly deposits.

· Review and reconcile event / rental settlements for accuracy and completeness.

· Prepare and post journal entries.

· Monthly reconciliations and reports.

· Assist with annual audit.

· Function as back-up to other accounting personnel.

· Interact with other team members, vendors and clients as needed.

· Provide event and ticket sales support as needed.

· All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and / or Experience

· Minimum Associate’s Degree in Accounting or equivalent experience with one year general accounting or accounts payable experience.

· Additional experience in payroll or accounts receivable is a plus.

Skills and Abilities

· Understand basic accounting principles; non-profit / fund accounting is a plus.

· Good verbal and written communication skills.

· Excellent organizational and administrative skills.

· Persistent with High attention to detail.

· Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.

· Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.

· Ability to adapt to changes in work environment, delays, or unexpected events.

· Ability to multi-task, establish priorities and manage competing demands.

· Must be able to pass criminal and credit background check.

Technology

· Strong PC and computerized accounting systems skills; QuickBooks knowledge and experience is a plus.

· Strong MS Excel skills, minimum Intermediate Skill Level; MS Access is a plus.

· Familiarity with and good skills of MS Office applications Outlook, Word, Teams, and Adobe Acrobat.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to navigate stairs daily; regularly move around the facilities; to stand for long hours during events; able to lift and carry up to 25 lbs.; and read, talk, and hear. This position may require work inside or outside of our facilities, as needed by events. Must be able to work occasional extended and/or irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
