Position Title: Marketing and Communications Manager

Department: Community Engagement

Reports to: The Community Engagement Team

FLSA: Exempt

Supervisor responsibilities: N/A

Starting Range: $62,388.14 - $65,102.94 annually

General Description:

The Marketing and Communications Manager is responsible for the planning and tactical deployment of marketing and communication initiatives, executing all internal and external marketing and communications, reporting on marketing projects and analytics, and supporting organization events. The Marketing and Communications Manager is charged with promoting the organizational branding in all aspects of the position, while developing strategic initiatives and deployment tactics of agency collateral. This position is solely accountable for all social media involvement and public relations efforts. The Marketing and Communications Manager supports the organization’s efforts to utilize for profit business strategies in support if its mission.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

Internal Marketing and Communications:

  1. Manages and oversees internal marketing and staff communications to build consistency and accuracy with disseminated data throughout the agency, daily.
  2. Manages the development and oversees deployment of internal communication projects to promote consistent programmatic themes while working with staff to ensure precise and accurate data is shared, weekly.
  3. Develops and distributes online communications to keep staff informed of important agency updates, weekly.
  4. Collaborates with agency leadership to manage and maintain deliverables for multiple projects. These projects include, but are not limited to, the annual contract deliverables to maintain compliance with the Community Centered Board and Single-Entry Point contracts with the State of Colorado. This position is tasked with managing these operation plans and deliverables to ensure communication standards are met and information is distributed to meet the deadlines, quarterly.

External Marketing and Communications:

  1. Establishes and maintains all agency brand guidelines to ensure that brand standards are adhered to, weekly.
  2. Leads efforts in ensuring staff understand the brand guidelines and utilize them in their publications to promote the TRE brand full circle, weekly.
  3. Develops, oversees, and maintains marketing tools to reflect agency brand position, to include management and full oversight of promotional items, project management of collateral and signage, email signatures, donor communications, and mailings. Writes and approves copy, daily.
  4. Develops community relationships to strategically position TRE with other nonprofits, government partners, industrial professionals, and corporate organizations to raise awareness of the TRE brand, reach families who can benefit from our services, identify donors who may want to support TRE’s fundraising efforts, and educate the community about TRE’s mission, programs, and services, monthly.
  5. Creates and manages video and photo content in collaboration with various departments internally and agencies externally to leverage video to optimize social media reach, monthly.
  6. Supervises photo and video archives to preserve the record of the organization’s previous marketing, donor relations, and grant writing initiatives, quarterly.
  7. Directs TRE social media strategy by autonomously creating and managing all social media content across channels, daily.
  8. Solely accountable for analyzing social media trend data to develop strategic social media approaches to ensure the agency grows a dynamic and agile presence while creating communication standards and strategies for revenue generation and collaborates with recruitment strategies within these mediums. Reports on analytics, monthly.
  9. Collaborates with all TRE departments when information is requested for distribution on TRE social media channels. This collaboration often includes creating and designing data using agency branding standards as a foundation for what is posted as well as decision-making in the agency’s best interest to ensure consistency of the agency’s image and messaging in social settings, weekly.
  10. Acts as the organization’s liaison through various social media pages, providing self-guided responses to community responses and other community organizations to promote the integrity of TRE, daily.
  11. Manages and promotes the agency’s blog by generating and writing on topics that important to the agency, collaborates with other guest writers, and edits data to ensure consistency with the blog program standards, monthly.
  12. Manages external marketing contracts, reviews quotes from vendors, and makes decisions on behalf of organization based on best practices, to ensure project requests are completed within specs and allotted timelines, quarterly.
  13. Directs public relations efforts to increase awareness of TRE and promote TRE events. Administers the agency’s Reputation Management and the Crisis Communication Plan, writes press releases, coordinates media events, and acts as the organization’s liaison for all news media and public relations events to ensure consistency and clarity of data, to protect the agency’s brand, and to support leadership on promoting the reputation of the organization, as needed.
  14. Collaborates with the Legislative Committee to plan and execute the Annual Legislative Town Hall and TRE’s Day at the Legislature to provide the committee with additional perspectives, ensure consistency of data presented to stakeholders, and safeguard TRE’s reputation before, during, and after the event. Facilitates appearances with legislators, elected officials, and/or their staff regarding event details and builds rapport while representing the organization, annually.
  15. Creates demographic mapping strategies to increase targeted marketing and communications quarterly.
  16. Promotes the organization externally and evolves its presence not only in the nonprofit sector, but also the broader business sector as the organization continues to grow. Researches and enters TRE into community awards to promote the company brand and support its image, quarterly.
  17. Oversees TRE website and manages content, SEO maintenance, web developer relationships, and implements strategic priorities, monthly.
  18. Provides ongoing business perspective to the Leadership Team in support of evolving the culture of the organization to consider effective business practices beyond traditional non-profit management.

Other Duties/Responsibilities:

  1. Provides input and support to collaboratively develop, update, and maintain department-specific objectives, goals, strategies, tactics, and department budget, annually.
  2. Supports department financial health by collaborating with other team members to ensure department is managed within the budgetary restrictions set forth through the annual budget hearing process, monthly.
  3. Supports department with assessing staffing needs, as needed.
  4. Support team members through providing coverage of service plan development tasks to maintain quality of and continuity of services for the people served by TRE, monthly.
  5. Participate in professional goal creation through the development and implementation of your career aspirations at TRE to further your performance, knowledge, understanding of the topics outlined in your career development plan, quarterly.
  6. Adapt to a changing work environment due to last minute changes in state and federal rules and regulations that effect TRE’s policies and procedures to best support the people served by TRE, annually or as needed.
  7. Assume other duties as assigned to promote the health and wellbeing of the people served by TRE and to promote the health and wellbeing of the organization, annually or as needed.

Job Qualifications:

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Minimum:

  • Excellent writing and organizational skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Evidence of taking initiative to complete projects and solve problems.
  • Computer proficiency (MS Office 365).

Education and Experience Requirements:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience:

  • 2-3 years of marketing experience.
  • 4-5 years of experience in a fast-paced team environment with writing, scheduling, and tracking data.
  • Customer relations management database systems.
  • Inclusive and diverse environments.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Marketing, Communications, or Nonprofit Management.
  • Nonprofit or volunteer coordination.
  • Proven history working with an in-house marketing position or in a marketing or digital firm.
  • Copywriting and public relations writing.
  • Demonstrated skill working in media or public relations.
  • Demonstrated skill in social media strategy or using a social media scheduling platform.

Material and Equipment Directly Used: Computers, Printers, Copy Machines, Surface Pro/tablets, Cell phones, etc.

Working Environment/Physical Activities Office, community and virtual environment settings. Moderate physical activity required, such as walking, sitting, standing, and lifting up to 20 pounds. (ADA accommodations at the request of the employee). Ability to talk and listen to staff and volunteers. A working vehicle, valid CO driver’s license (unless active Military family), and auto insurance coverage with bodily injury and property damage liability coverage ($100,000/$300,000/$100,000 coverage recommended) are required.
