The Resource Exchange

Position Title: Developmental Interventionist IV, PT

Department: Early Intervention

Reports to: Director of Early Intervention

FLSA: Exempt

Supervisor responsibilities: N/A

Salary Range: $28.75 - $29.95 hourly

General Description:

The Developmental Interventionist utilizes best practices in evaluation and assessment, IFSP development and offering supports for children with Autism and other behavioral challenges and services in natural environments through consultation or direct service provision to ensure families have options in fostering the early development of their child.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Provide evidence-based services in natural environments. Serve as a consultant on the transdisciplinary teams.
  • Assist infants and toddlers to attain approximate or compensate developmental milestones through the use of environmental adaptations, assistive technology and play versus direct therapy.
  • Ensure same-age peer interaction and modeling. Assist in these community environments as needed. Participation in community for families to bring a sense of belonging. Develop these opportunities and facilitate familys connectedness.
  • Empower parents to carry on learning in natural environments and be involved in Early Intervention programs. Goal is to enable families to be increasingly independent of formal intervention services. Foster leadership and positive regard for families.
  • Ensure families are a part of their community and are connected to natural supports. Educate families about community activities, groups, and leadership roles in the community.
  • Respond to the cultural and linguistic diversity of families.
  • Partner with families to identify times and environments within their natural routine where play/teaching can occur.
  • Partner with parents and professionals to write formal and informal plans. Consult with other professionals on transdisciplinary teams to meet the needs of children. Meet timelines and ensure procedural safeguards.
  • Knowledge of and experience with area school districts, Child Find Coordinators, preschool and special education programs, and Part C to facilitate smooth transitions.
  • Support children's health: Help families to record important information, interface with medical community to get infants and toddlers needs met.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of early childhood development and early parenthood relationship development.
  • Carry out observation and assessment with sensitivity and regard for the uniqueness of each child.
  • Practice proactive strategies when responding to families at risk.
  • Provide a combination of in-person and telehealth services delivery based on the needs and priorities of the child in services and their family.
  • Driving responsibilities related to job.

Other Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Participate in professional opportunities (committees, workshops, conferences, journal readings) based on personal professional development plan.
  • Act as transdisciplinary team facilitator and/or scribe on a rotating basis as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications:

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Minimum: Good teaming skills to consult on the multi-disciplinary evaluation team and family members present during the Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP). Familiarity with Colorado Springs community. Ability to speak and write clearly and effectively. Convey information to others in understandable and precise terms. Participate effectively in decision-making processes. Understanding of early social emotional development and parent child interactions that influence child development overall and success.

Education and Experience Requirements:

Minimum: MA/MS in counseling, social work, human services/early childhood special education from an accredited college or university, and two (2 Years) experience working with children with disabilities, birth to three years, and their families.

Preferred: Working knowledge of Medicaid Waiver programs and requirements; experience working with persons with disabilities. Knowledge of and experience working with community resources and resource development. ECSC, LPC, LSW, or Psychologist license. Expertise in the autism areas of development as it relates to children with disabilities birth to three years: cognitive, motor, speech/language, social-emotional, medical; to ensure the contribution of the trans-disciplinary team.

Material and Equipment Directly Used: Computers/tablets, Printers, Copy Machines, Personal Vehicle, Cell phones/telephone, Cloud based systems and software, etc.

Working Environment/Physical Activities: Office, community, private residences, commercial properties, and virtual environment settings. Moderate physical activity required, such as walking, sitting, standing, and lifting up to 20 pounds. working vehicle, valid CO drivers license (unless active Military family), and minimum insurance levels ($100,000/$300,000/$100,000 liability coverage) are required.
