Description

POSITION DESCRIPTION: This position is responsible for the oversight of a contracted newspaper delivery force on a nightly basis. This manager has direct responsibility for ensuring integrity of ad zone and ensuring timely nightly delivery. This district manager will be responsible for the customer service of all home delivery subscribers and retail store outlets. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Ensure the availability of reports to carriers for the maintenance of their business records that include subscriber information, customer and wholesale billing information, service records and daily district activities.
• Train all new contractors ensuring they can effectively run routes in alignment with company service expectations.
• Provide carriers with communication of all company and departmental policies and practices that pertain to services promised to the company's subscribers.
• Facilitate regular meetings with carriers in the zone to exchange information necessary to ensure a high standard of customer service is provided to all subscribers.

• Take appropriate action to request correction to deficiencies in district performance and/or terminate the contractual relationship between the carrier and the company.
• Assist in the recruitment of our contractors.
• Act as assistant liaison and mediate carrier-subscribers disputes concerning service or billing. Provide customer service support when needed.

• Run open routes as they occur, for all products.
• Ensure the integrity of all ad zones.
• Refine and develop procedures to guarantee effective nightly operation of the branch.

• Monitor returns and review subscriber stop requests.
• Track the flow of papers and supplies from the company's premises to each distribution center in the zone; evaluate the efficiency of current processes.
• Work with zone manager to audit down and open routes.
• Support merchandising and marketing of our single copy products.
• Perform other duties as requested by management.

Qualifications

Requirements, minimum education level, and experience:

• High school diploma or comparable job experience
• Strong mathematical ability and problem-solving skills
• Valid SC drivers license, acceptable driving record, reliable transportation, and adequate auto insurance (minimum liability amounts of $100,000/$300,000/$25,000)
• Previous supervisory experience a plus

Physical Requirements, Work Environment and Travel:

Must be able to safely perform all physical requirements including: walking, standing, sitting, reaching, stooping, twisting and kneeling, and lifting newspaper bundles up to 40 lbs.

Work will be both in an office environment and also will include time in the field, possibility in times of hot, cold and inclement weather.

Shift hours will be approximately midnight until 8:00, depending on territory assigned.
