Job Description

Position Summary:

  • The Senior Controls Engineer will develop and deliver next generation automation equipment to our manufacturing operations. The individual will be in a leadership role in designing and building automated equipment that meets our cost, quality, and performance requirements. They will work in an integrated team environment working closely with other engineers in delivering advanced automation solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities. Employees may perform other related duties as negotiated to meet the ongoing needs of the organization.
    • Manage project teams and keep to a budget within time constraints.
    • Design and build complex automation systems including PLC, HMI, Robot, Vision, and Laser control programs to meet customer specifications.
    • Create detailed schematics, BOMs, trouble shoot electrical systems, electronic file management and panel layouts.
    • Partner with peers and managers to apply electrical engineering knowledge and industrial machinery control principles to ensure designs are functional and to satisfy customer operating requirements.
    • Interface with the Manufacturing Manager and Electrical production personnel to ensure electrical panels and machinery are properly assembled and wired; this includes documenting assembly layout changes, part substitutions and wiring/cabling revisions.
    • Provide engineering expertise in resolving specific technology issues during development and provide support to the production team during ramp and sustaining activities.
    • Drive Continuous Improvement activities within the manufacturing area to meet and exceed operational objectives and goals.
    • Implement changes as required by customer request or in response to manufacturing quality issues on both new and existing processes.
    • Provide engineering expertise to the sales and customer service teams in working with customers including delivering technical presentations. 

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

The minimum educational requirements listed below may be substituted by relevant experience, learned competencies and/or certifications obtained throughout one’s career.

  • BS in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
  • Required:
    • 5 plus years’ experience in machine building and controls.
    • Expertise in interpreting and developing technical documentation inclusive of prints.
    • High level proficiency in programming AB Logic, Solid Works, HMI software, CNC code, and structured text.
    • Ability to meet commitments in a fast paced, technology driven environment.
    • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office and Project.
  • Preference given to candidates with:
    • Prior machine building experience
    • Lean Manufacturing
