The Pacific-Union Club is Hiring a Guest Services / Porter Attendant Near San Francisco, CA

Summary: Guest Service Attendant/Porter for a downtown private social club. This position requires excellent customer service skills to interact with members, guests, and the public. You consider yourself a self-starter with a get the job done attitude. Specific responsibilities include monitoring guest areas, and assisting with the upkeep of the club house
Guest Service Attendant:
Greeting member/guests, moving vehicles as needed, monitoring for unauthorized vehicles, luggage handling, banquet set up/breakdown, opening/closing duties, telephone answering, locating members in the clubhouse, assisting other departments as needed, small project work, stocking supplies, and other cross training duties as assigned.
Porter:
Duties include but not limited to: light cleaning which may include sweeping, mopping, vacuuming various areas of the club, polishing brass, trash removal, watering plants. Disinfect designated areas following “Clubhouse Operations Covid-19 Health and Sanitation Plan”.

Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Security of building: maintain security of building, screen out non-members, and handle vendors and deliveries.
2. Parking Lot: must greet all members/guests at entrance, control access to parking lot, ensure vehicles park properly, move vehicles as needed, and limit number of guest vehicles.
3. Moving furniture/luggage: must be able to assist with moving of tables, chairs, luggage, etc. throughout the clubhouse in a safe manner.
4. Answer door: must be able to greet members/guests, keep track of members in the clubhouse, deliver luggage, maintain security of the building, screen out non-members, handle deliveries and vendors.
5. Cleanliness of clubhouse: Must be able to sweep, mop, polish brass, vacuum, and other duties assigned or as needed. Disinfect designated areas following “Clubhouse Operations Covid-19 Health and Sanitation Plan”.
6. Knowledge of club services and rules: responsible to provide a courteous, knowledgeable answer to all member/guest questions or know where to find the correct information in a timely manner.
7. Emergency Response: able to respond to emergencies in a calm manner. Must be prepared to assist in all emergency procedures such as evacuation of building.
8. Communication: must be able to report any problems or concerns with the manager and others in charge in a prompt manner.
9. Other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by management of the club from time to time.

Qualifications:
Practical experience: Minimum 1 year in customer service-related field (hospitality field is helpful) strongly preferred.
Education: High School graduate or the equivalent desired.
Other abilities: Ability to provide a high standard of excellent customer service; Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and procedure manuals; Ability to write routine reports and correspondence; Ability to communicate fluently in English, both verbally and in writing; Ability to work cooperatively with others; Ability to operate computers with accuracy and moderate speed; Ability to operate basic office equipment; Ability to drive a vehicle and hold a valid driver’s license.

Physical Requirements:

  • Standing and walking for extended periods of time, and ability to move about.
  • Reaching by extending hand(s) or arm(s) in any direction.
  • Bending and being able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Finger dexterity to manipulate objects with fingers rather than with whole hand(s) or arm(s).
  • Communication skills using the spoken word.
  • Ability to see within normal parameters and hear with normal range.

Schedule: The Guest Service Attendant/Porter’s work schedule shall be determined in accordance with business demands.

Uniform: The Guest Service Attendant/Porter shall provide his/her own white dress shirt, tie, black dress shoes and socks. A black uniform suit consisting of jacket, vest and pants will be provided by the Club. Attire and grooming shall at all times be conservative, professional, and appropriate to the club’s decorum. Other appearance standards are covered in the Employee Handbook.

Compensation: $ 27.00 /hr
Benefits: 401(k) retirement plan with 8% employer contribution; no matching requirement.
Health Plan (choice of 3 plans) with up to 100% of personal premiums paid, 75% of dependent premiums paid.
Dental Plan with up to 100% of personal premiums paid, 75% of dependent premiums paid.
Life Insurance – minimum $100,000
Long Term Disability Insurance
Paid vacations (accrual begins after 6 mo. of employment)
9 paid holidays (after 30 days of employment)
