Location: Salt Lake City & Park City Utah. This position will travel with the assigned surgeon to clinic days at each location.
Start date: September 2023

Description:
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Clinical Assistant to provide full-time support to a Pediatric Orthopedic Surgeon in a fast-paced medical practice. As a Clinical Assistant you will play a critical role in assisting the surgeon in providing high-quality care to pediatric patients with orthopedic conditions. Your responsibilities will include both administrative tasks and direct patient care duties. The ideal candidate should have excellent organizational skills, strong attention to detail, and a passion for working with children.

Primary Responsibilities:
Patient Care:
- Prepare examination rooms, ensuring cleanliness and stocking necessary supplies.
- Escort patients to examination rooms and assist in taking their medical history, including chief complaints and relevant medical information.
- Measure and record vital signs, such as blood pressure, temperature, weight, and height.
- Prepare patients for procedures, surgeries, and treatments, explaining the process and providing reassurance.
- Perform basic wound care, dressing changes, and suture removal under the direction of the surgeon.
- Assist in cast application & removal.
- Educate patients and their families on post-operative care, home exercises, and rehabilitation protocols.
Administrative Support:
Schedule patient appointments, surgeries, and follow-up visits, coordinating with other departments as necessary.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic medical records (EMR), documenting patient encounters, procedures, and treatment plans.
Handle phone calls, inquiries, and messages promptly and professionally.
Coordinate referrals to other healthcare providers, diagnostic imaging facilities, and physical therapy as needed.
Manage and organize patient medical records, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Requirements:
- Medical Assistant, EMT, ATC. Willing to train the right individual.
- A minimum of 1 year of experience with applicable patient care and administrative duties preferred.
- Demonstrated problem solving and workflow management skills required.
- Must maintain a professional attitude towards patients and an excellent and collegial working relationship with other personnel involved in patient care.
- Excellent critical thinking skills, ability to work independently, and manage time effectively.
- Computer and EHR software proficiency.
Working Conditions:
This position involves working in an orthopedic practice, including patient care areas.
May require standing for extended periods and lifting/moving patients or equipment.
