The Orthopaedic Institute is Hiring a Benefits Coordinator Near Lake, FL

Description

JOB OVERVIEW: 

The Orthopaedic Institute is currently seeking a Benefits Coordinator to join our team. The primary function of the position will be to obtain pertinent insurance benefit information for patients scheduled to receive services at our office.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO: 

  • Responsible for ensuring insurance companies are contacted to verify benefits through phone calls and/or web-based sites
  • Prioritizes workload to ensure deadlines are met
  • Documents the insurance and authorization verification information in the EMR system
  • Ensure coverage restrictions are documented and addressed
  • Provides support for the scheduling department and staff as needed
  • Completes any additional job duties as assigned

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS/LICENSE: 

None

EDUCATION:

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • 1 – 2 years’ experience in benefit verification or related field required

SKILLS:

  • Excellent customer services skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Ability to multi-task, manage details and organize efficiently and effectively. 
  • Must have knowledge of medical terminology and procedures, knowledge of health insurance industry practices and/or medical billing procedures
  • Experience with medical scheduling/billing systems is desired
  • Computer literacy required

  • Possess the ability to fulfill any office activities normally expected in an office setting, to include, but not limited to: remaining seated for periods of time to perform computer based work, participating in filing activity, lifting and carrying office supplies (paper reams, mail, etc.)
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to feel, and reach with hand and arms
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 20-40 pounds.
  • Fine hand manipulation (keyboarding).
  • Travel may be required to existing or new TOI locations.
