About the Role:
Ensure physicians, advanced practice providers and staff achieve the highest possible standards of quality in coding.
Responsibilities:
- Review medical records and assign appropriate codes based on clinical documentation.
- Communicate with physicians and staff when code assignments are not straightforward or documentation in the record is inadequate or unclear for coding purposes.
- Ensure all charges are coded to the highest quality and meet the required standards of accuracy, timeliness, and comprehensiveness at all times.
- Demonstrate knowledge of CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10 codes, and modifiers.
- Maintains knowledge of current coding guidelines.
- Assist prior authorization and the business office with denials pertaining to coding.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Full-time position M-F 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. with flexibility.
Candidate Requirements:
- Completion of a coding certification program with AHIMA approval.
- Advanced knowledge and understanding of general coding principles.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and diagnostic and procedural coding.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with a high level of attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
