The Orthopaedic & Fracture Clinic, P.A. is Hiring a Medical Coder Near Mankato, MN

About the Role:

Ensure physicians, advanced practice providers and staff achieve the highest possible standards of quality in coding.

Responsibilities:

  • Review medical records and assign appropriate codes based on clinical documentation.
  • Communicate with physicians and staff when code assignments are not straightforward or documentation in the record is inadequate or unclear for coding purposes.
  • Ensure all charges are coded to the highest quality and meet the required standards of accuracy, timeliness, and comprehensiveness at all times.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10 codes, and modifiers.
  • Maintains knowledge of current coding guidelines.
  • Assist prior authorization and the business office with denials pertaining to coding.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Full-time position M-F 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. with flexibility.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Completion of a coding certification program with AHIMA approval.
  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of general coding principles.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and diagnostic and procedural coding.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
