The Nowak Group is Hiring a Structural Project Engineer (Tucson, AZ) Near Tucson, AZ

Position Summary:

This position reports to the Engineering Manager and is responsible for overseeing and performing structural engineering and related activities associated with industrial construction projects, including: Autodesk Inventor knowledge and AutoCAD drawing package, structural calculations, equipment design, work scope preparation, project cost estimation, field installation procedures, inspection reports, and field construction support. The position will involve project management and working with engineers, technicians, administrative personnel, suppliers, and end customers. This is primarily an office position with frequent field travel to jobsites.

Responsibilities:

1. Project Management: Develop and manage field and shop construction projects from conceptual design through final installation. Most important focus is on the structural engineering aspect; however, expect involvement in other aspects of the design process (i.e. electrical, mechanical, etc.). Ability to manage multiple priorities under time sensitive deadlines.

2. Engineering: Structural design tasks may include steel and concrete structural system design, calculations, stress analysis, foundation design, and construction observation. Must understand multiple aspects of civil work (field equipment, shop tools, civil engineering standards, industrial work practice, etc.).

3. AutoCAD Drafting: Develop structural system drawings from Inventor 3D and/or AutoCAD; prepare layouts, and detail drawings as required by our construction department.

4. Field Visits: Perform site visits on project opportunities to prepare cost estimates for customer RFQs and inspect progress of ongoing projects.

Requirements

Experience Required:

1. At least 4 years direct civil engineering experience OR

2. At least 10 years equivalent experience in structural design/construction industry.

Education Required:

1. Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering (ABET Accredited) required. Professional Engineer is preferred, but not required.

2. Participating in continuing education programs in multiple aspects of civil / structural engineering.

Computer Skills Required:

1. Must have strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.)

2. Practical experience and proficiency with Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD 2D.

Other Skills/Aptitudes:

1. Must have a strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy.

2. Must have strong written and verbal communication skills.

3. Must have good customer relations skills and able to remain calm during stressful situations.

4. Ability to work under pressure in a challenging fast paced environment.

5. Must have time management skills. Ability to plan and manage multiple projects and tasks.

6. Ability to take direction and act independently. Must also be able to work well with a team.

7. Ability to manage multiple priorities, stay organized, and demonstrate leadership skills.

8. Must be a self-starter and able to make quick decisions.

9. Must show a history of being reliable and dependable. Ability to work overtime as required.

Other Requirements:

1. US Citizen or Permanent Resident Only.

2. Must be able to pass a background check (must be able to be badged at customer facilities).

3. Must be fit for duty (pass drug screening).

4. Possess a valid driver's license and legally be able to operate a company vehicle.

5. Must be able to physically perform all required duties which may include: bending, lifting, carrying, squatting, climbing ladders, working in confined spaces, or standing for prolonged periods of time.

6. Be willing to wear Personal Protective Equipment and work around industrial equipment.

7. Be willing to travel and work in several different geographic locations (indoors & outdoors).
