TITLE: Landscape Management Technician Apprentice

JOB TYPE: Apprenticeship: 2,000 hour program

PAY RATE: $17/hour

The Groundskeeper serves a vital role at the resort by providing exceptional service to guests and keeping our property pristine. This 2,000 apprenticeship program is an opportunity to enhance your Landscaping knowledge in conjunction with your Related Technical Instruction provided through Hospitality Maine. Apprentices will spend a majority of their time at Black Rock Farm where we grow produce for our guests, employees, and local food banks.

ABOUT THE JOB

• Plant, water, prune, and otherwise maintain gardens
• Harvest and distribute produce
• Use both power tools and manual tools to maintain flower beds, shrubs, trees, etc.
• Assemble floral arrangements and other decorations to place in public areas
• Remove litter from parking lots, grass, and other public areas
• Establish and operate honor-system farm stand
• Organize and manage time efficiently to accomplish daily tasks
• Communicate and collaborate with landscaping team

ABOUT YOU:

• Loves nature, the environment, and spending time outdoors
• Must be able to lift at least 35 pounds
• Demonstrates effective communication skills
• Demonstrates attention to detail
• Ability to bend, stretch, twist or reach with your body, arms and/or legs
• Abides by the highest ethical standards
• Willingness to learn and to ask for help when necessary
• Punctual
• Demonstrates ability to work on a team
