Who We Are Looking For

We have an immediate opening for experienced, elementary teachers for students in 2-4th grades for the 2023-24 school year. Ideal candidates should possess experience and have the ability to work individually and in small groups with students. The Teacher leads in planning and implementing individualized, daily educational programs for children in a multicultural, multilingual, bias-free environment. 

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Teach assigned subject matters to students collaboratively and in an engaging manner using inquiry-based learning, instructional materials, assessment tools, and lesson plans according to the needs of students’ levels and abilities.
• Monitor and assess individual student performance throughout the year in order to determine each student’s progress. 
• Maintain careful anecdotal and assessment records for individual students, and prepare accurate, comprehensive report cards each quarter.
• Provide individual and small group instruction in order to ensure academic excellence by knowing the needs of the students and adapting the curricula to challenge them appropriately.
• Participate in appropriate in-service programs or other professional development.
• Contribute to the development of TNCS's curriculum by regularly contributing to and improving the content of the "Curricula > K-8" shared drive.
• Participate in parent-teacher conferences as required or requested.
• Communicate weekly with the families to convey class and school events and information. Communicate information with individual families as needed and in a timely manner.
• Maintain a professional manner when interacting with students, parents, community agencies, and colleagues.
• Provide extracurricular activities after school during the school year, as scheduled.
• Respond promptly and professionally to communications.
• Attend school-required functions.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, or a related field (advanced degrees are preferred). 
• Montessori education certification
• Minimum 3 years experience working with primary students.
