The Event Planning Assistant provides marketing and organizational support to the annual Fire in the Pines Festival in Wilmington NC. Fire in the Pines Festival is an environmental educational festival dedicated to raising positive awareness around controlled burning and its benefit in the longleaf pine ecosystem.

The Event Planning Assistant will help grow the annual Fire in the Pines Festival by recruiting additional exhibitors and assisting with marketing through local broadcasting networks and platforms. They will help coordinate with partner agencies in the organization of the festival. They will also assist with the recruitment and organization of volunteers and may be responsible for maintenance of event materials and equipment. The Assistant has frequent interaction with staff throughout the program and with partner agencies.
This position is 7 hours a week from late mid-May until mid-October.
The ideal candidate will be outgoing, have excellent communication skills, and be able to develop relationships with exhibitors and engage the public. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the ongoing mission of conservation by directing and shaping the work of our team!

The starting pay range for a candidate selected for this position is generally within the range of $17.20 per hour. This rate only applies to candidates whose country of employment is the USA. Where a successful candidate’s actual pay will fall within this range will be based on a variety of factors, including, for example, the candidate's location, qualifications, specific skills, and experience. Please note countries outside the USA would have a different pay range in the local currency based on the local labor market, and not tied to USA pay or ranges.
