Description

The Montrose Center is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Grants Accountant to join our team. The Grants Accountant will play a crucial role in managing financial aspects related to grants and contracts awarded to the organization. This position requires meticulous attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  1. Manage the financial administration of grants and contracts, ensuring compliance with funding requirements, organizational policies, and relevant regulations.
  2. Prepare and submit financial reports to grantors and funding agencies in a timely manner, ensuring accuracy and compliance with reporting guidelines.
  3. Monitor grant budgets and expenditures, identifying variances, and providing recommendations for corrective actions as needed.
  4. Coordinate with program managers and other staff to develop grant budgets and financial projections for grant proposals.
  5. Maintain accurate records of grant-related financial transactions, including revenue recognition, expense allocations, and cost allocations.
  6. Assist in the preparation of grant proposals and applications, providing financial information and budgetary support as required.
  7. Conduct periodic reviews and audits of grant-related financial activities to ensure adherence to internal controls and compliance with grant terms.
  8. Collaborate with the finance team to integrate grant-related financial data into the organization's overall financial reporting and accounting systems.
  9. Stay informed about changes in grant regulations and accounting standards, and ensure that grant-related processes and procedures are updated accordingly.
  10. Provide support and guidance to program staff and other stakeholders on grant-related financial matters.

Requirements

  1. Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. CPA or advanced degree preferred.
  2. Minimum of 3 years of experience in grants accounting or financial management, preferably in a non-profit organization.
  3. Strong understanding of grants accounting principles, including fund accounting, cost allocations, and grant compliance requirements.
  4. Proficiency in financial software applications such as QuickBooks, Microsoft Excel, and grants management systems.
  5. Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and identify trends or anomalies.
  6. Effective communication skills, with the ability to communicate financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
  7. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
  8. Commitment to the mission and values of the Montrose Center, with sensitivity to issues affecting the LGBTQ community.
