The Mom Project is Hiring a Litigation Paralegal Near Deerfield, IL

Job Description: We are looking for a self-motivated, critical thinking legal assistant or paralegal to ensure smooth running of the office, effective case management, and diligent case preparation. Practice areas focuses on employment law. This position is a full-time position.

Our office handles diverse files in the area of employment law, including transactional and litigation matters, in areas ranging from non-competes, discrimination, and wage law violations. Each of our client’s needs our different, which offers an ever-changing working environment. Our ideal candidate will have a desire to work independently and efficiently to advance our client’s needs. Critical thinking and attention to detail under pressure are a must.
Position Responsibilities may include, but not limited to:
  • Answer and direct incoming calls
  • Send and receive mail as needed, including FedEx, US Postal, and courier
  • Coordinate attorney’s schedule and manage deadlines
  • Draft correspondence and legal documents
  • Conduct investigations
  • Organize, review, and coordinate documents for discovery
  • Assist at trial and hearings as needed
  • Any other duties as assigned
Required Skills and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • College level coursework
  • Knowledge of Word, Nuance PDF, Google Business Apps, Outlook and case management software
  • Ability and willingness to learn new technologies in evolving environment
  • Demeanor must be courteous, positive, willing to assist clients, and willing to learn
  • Ability to think critically about client’s needs
  • Independent work ethic with ability to participate as a team member
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Familiarity with law, legal procedures and protocols, and court system, specifically Lake County, Northern District of Illinois, and various administrative agencies
  • Satisfactory knowledge of day-to-day operations of a legal office
  • Ability to juggle multiple activities and work under pressure
  • This position must pass a post-offer background and drug test
Preferred Skills and Experience:
  • Legal assistant or paralegal certificate or certification or pending
  • Familiarity with Illinois Code of Ethics for Paralegal
  • Bilingual or multilingual
  • Experience in a litigation firm handling personal injury or employment matters
  • Experience in small office setting
