POSITION OBJECTIVE: The Group Assistant Controller at Marmon's Retail Group plays a pivotal role in the financial management of the organization, with a primary focus on performing reporting/analysis, forecasting/budgeting, internal control testing, and managing special projects. With revenues of approximately $500 million, this position is key to ensuring financial accuracy, compliance, and strategic decision-making. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: Monthly Activities: Consolidate, review, and analyze business unit financials and related schedules to identify trends, issues, and opportunities, including month-end close, as well as monthly forecasts and the annual budget. Distribute final consolidated financial statements, forecasts, and budgets to management team. Assist in the creation of monthly commentary and schedules for month-end close, forecasts and annual budget submissions. Book any required General Ledger entries for the Group level (e.g., profit in inventory elimination entries) Distribute and ensure adherence to reporting deadlines by the business units and work closely with Marmon’s Corporate Accounting team to resolve any outstanding questions or items. Quarterly Activities: Review quarterly analytics provided by business units and work closely with the business units to revise as needed. Prepare & validate financial statement certifications for the Group and review and analyze business unit submissions. Assist in preparing group presentations for Quarterly Business Reviews with Marmon Management Assist with review and analysis of Benchmarking report prepared by Marmon Corporate Annual Activities: Coordinate, review, and consolidate the Annual Budget process. Coordinate, review, and ensure Annual Equity Pickup Entries are booked correctly by business units during January month-end close. Ensure annual forms and quarterly/ad-hoc requests from Marmon Corporate/Legal/Risk Management are completed by all member companies. Ongoing Activities Conducted All Year: Assist with periodically testing SOX and Marmon SPI (Standard Practice Instruction) business unit compliance, assist in reviewing effectiveness of remediation / closure actions as reported by company controllers. Operate as a liaison with Marmon Internal Audit regarding internal audits and peer audits at member companies. Assist management in development of financial reporting and analysis. Review Internal Control Questionnaire, Segregation of Duties and Information Technology SOX assessments from business units and recommend revisions as appropriate. Perform onsite balance sheet and reserve reviews. Assist in the review of capital expenditures. Perform post audits of significant capital projects. Assist in the planning of group financial meetings. Assist in evaluation and due diligence of potential acquisitions. Be a power user and member company resource for OneStream. Respond to various special analysis requests from Group management and Marmon. Position requires travel. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: 7 years of experience in a progression of accounting/financial analysis positions Strong interpersonal skills with a customer-service mindset a must Audit experience strongly preferred. CPA preferred but not required. A successful candidate can demonstrate: Ability to operate independently and multi-task.
