The Lynden Family of Companies is Hiring a Flight Operations Intern Near Anchorage, AK

Lynden Air Cargo is looking for a seasonal Flight Operations Department Intern who is a detail-oriented problem solver that enjoys working with a dynamic team. The Flight Operations Department Intern is an internship position that provides general exposure to Lynden Flight Operations. This position will interact with Flight Operations to include, Flight Crew, Dispatch, Crew Operations, Safety, and Flight Operations Training, both by observing standard practices within the airline and also working to complete an individual project that supports one component of the airline. This individual will integrate with the airlines management department and supporting functions within the airline as needed. Individuals awarded this internship must actively be enrolled (or in between semesters) in an accredited University Flight Operations Course OR Program for Flight Operations Administration/Management, Professional Piloting, or similar.Applicant must have, at a minimum, a student pilot license or have completed the FAA dispatch written exam.Applicants must be available 20 hours per week from 7 am to 1 pm. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.Performs all assigned work in accordance with established policies and procedures as governed by Lynden Air Cargo’s General Operations Manual and applicable Code of Federal Regulations.Attends daily and weekly planning meetings as assigned.Completes intra company correspondence as assigned. Examples include company memos, training, or informational newsletters.Observes interactions with Federal Aviation Administration. Interacts with Director of Operations regarding Regulatory Compliance, Operations Specifications, Approved Programs and Electronic Flight Bag.Attends recurrent Pilot Ground training when possible.Completes individual project. This project will encompass elements as determined by the Intern that improve either Safety, Training, Simulator/procedures Training, Electronic Flight Bag, Development of new procedures, or Key Performance Indicator system or report for Lynden Flight Operations.Reports any abnormal conditions or discovered discrepancies to appropriate supervisory personnel.Assist Flight Operations department with administrative tasks and other miscellaneous duties.Maintain confidentiality within required operational parameters and business practices. LANGUAGE SKILLS:Ability to read and interpret technical documents, including but not limited to maintenance manuals, wiring schematics, and structural repair manuals. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. REASONING ABILITY:Ability to use common sense and sound judgment to deal with situations and multiple problems in a highly controlled and regulated environment. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:Must be reliable and demonstrate the ability to interact with computer based systems such as Email, Microsoft Teams, Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Safety Reporting, as well as Electronic Flight Bag Systems such as Jepp Pro FD and Comply365. PHYSICAL DEMANDS:While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit, and feel. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must be able to lift and /or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. WORK ENVIRONMENT:The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions. The employee may occasionally be exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals.
