The Logistics Company is Hiring a Personnel Assistant I Transition Clerk (Personnel Assistant (Employment) I) Near Fort Bliss, TX

Job Description:

The Transition Clerk works with Soldier Readiness Processing (SRP) Site Adjutant General (AG) section in processing of Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty (DD214) and Release from Active Duty (REFRAD) orders. Maintain professionalism at all times and provide customer service to each service member.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs final out-processing of all enlisted and officer separation
  • Furnishes orders to separating Soldier and explains purpose and use of REFRAD orders for transportation purposes, travel allowances, and in some cases, disability severance pay
  • Reviews correctness of DD214 and REFRAD orders
  • Advise service member on action required prior to separation
  • Ensures required documents are collected and DD214 is accurate, prior to signature of Soldier and Designated Reviewer/Signer (CTR)
  • Shall make required distribution and web upload of the separation packets to appropriate Army Component Headquarters.
  • Must record Service members attendance into correct Army tracking program (TRANSPROC)
  • Understand, comply, and enforce all Project directives and the The Logistics Company Employee Handbook’s policies.
  • Will support and enforce the QC/Safety’s Programs guidance.
  • Will comply with all OSHA regulatory safety standards.
  • Will require having flexed hours to accommodate for mission requirements to include weekends and Holidays.
  • Understand and comply with all Performance Work Statement requirements.

NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Other duties as required/approved by management.

Required Education, Experience, and Skills include:

  • High School education or equivalent
  • Working knowledge of Adjutant General functions of the U.S. Army
  • College degree and military background is a plus.
  • Must have proficient computer skills and experience in using Microsoft Office.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with employees within the office, personnel in other offices and military personnel to clarify, obtain or provide information.
  • Must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Required to pass the DD Form 214 certification training.
Requirements:

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

  • Familiar with applicable Army and Joint Travel regulations and DOD pay Entitlements .
  • Knowledge of Army rank structure
  • Knowledge of mobilization/demobilization operations IAW FORSCOM Regulation 500-3-1 through 500-3-5 and the Personnel Policy Guidance
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. Ability to monitor/assess performance of self, other individuals and organizations to make improvements or task corrective action
  • Ability to identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions
  • Ability to speak, read, write and understand English
  • Microsoft Office proficiency
  • Organization skills to prioritize and perform multiple tasks with little or no supervision
  • Intuitive, interpretive, and analytical comprehension to rapidly identify and resolve problems
  • Must have the ability to prioritize, multi-task and work in a fast pace environment
  • Must be able to perform under deadlines
  • Excellent reasoning and problem solving skills
  • Must have a very high degree of attention to detail
  • Must be capable of working at a computer terminal for extended periods

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Field conditions prevail: Area is subject to blowing dust and sand with temperatures ranging from 10(-) degrees F in the winter to 125( ) degrees F in the summer. Routinely work 8( ) hours per day. Must be able to perform duties at Fort Bliss on a government site. Must be able to work full time and work with a flexible schedule for overtime and weekends.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Essential and marginal functions require maintaining physical condition necessary for: bending, stooping, sitting, walking, or standing for prolonged periods of time, often in rough high-desert terrain and in severe weather; moving or lifting items weighing up to 50 pounds; operating through extended periods of high stress. Must possess: visual acuity to review written documentation; ability to hear and understand speech at normal room levels and on the telephone; and the manual dexterity to operate a cell phone, handheld radio, telephone and keyboard. Must be able to work unusual and extended hours to include weekends and holidays.

Must be able to work in fast paced, multi-task environment.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFYING FACTORS

Will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Must be US citizen; must possess valid driver’s license (any state), and must prove clean driving record and current vehicle insurance coverage. As a condition of employment, must have acceptable background check results and pass a pre-employment drug screening. This position may be subject to random drug and/or alcohol testing on an unannounced basis.
