Job Description: | ||||||||
Performs initial, random, and final inspections on equipmentsubmitted for repair or services and shall determine that all repairs do notexceed maintenance expenditure limits (MEL) established by applicable equipmenttechnical bulletins or by a local policy prior to work being initiated.Conducts Initial Inspection process, accurately estimating maintenance laborhours required and parts/materials costs. Enters data into LogisticsInformation System (LIS) supporting Maintenance prior to proceeding withrepairs. Uses TM MAC times, MWO/TB/STIR estimated times, engineered standards,regulatory standards, historical data, or other methods approved by the IMMO toestimate labor hours. Updates the estimated hours to complete the maintenanceaction in the LIS. Performs ECOD's as requested. Technical inspectionsconducted on all equipment presented for turn-in, serviceability check, lateraltransfer, or in-processing of new equipment into the Army inventory inaccordance with AR 750-1 and AR 725-50 to determine condition code. Providesreports, evaluations and technical exhibits for equipment. Performs initial,in-progressive and final inspections on all commercial and tactical vehicles.Performs vehicle classifications and maintains reference library. Types ofequipment inspected include but not limited to: all heavy and light wheeledvehicles, trailers, shelters, fuel and water tanks and accessory equipment andattachments. Operates and inspects machines or equipment to diagnose defects. Usestechnical manuals, bulletins and written directives in the performance of allinspections. Examines parts for damage or excessive wear using micrometers andgauges. Diagnose vehicle problems to include engines, transmissions and drivetrain to verify faults. Orders required repair parts using appropriate partsmanuals. Test overhauled equipment to insure operating efficiency. Perform ECODand ACOD inspections and verifies condition codes. Performs initial acceptanceof items on work requests, and verifies serial numbers and problems identifiedas well as performing final inspections IAW applicable TMs and TBs ensuringwork has been completed in agreement with the work request. Performs testdrives when necessary. All work is accomplished IAW with the applicable Armyregulations, DA PAMs, Technical Manuals, Technical Bulletins, and RepairManuals. | ||||||||
Requirements: | ||||||||
Engineering Technician II is directly responsible forconducting all of the required inspections and must have at least five years ofexperience in the inspection area of military equipment. Applies technicalknowledge to perform inspections on material handling equipment (MHE), groundsupport equipment, tactical and non-tactical wheeled vehicles/trailers, trackedvehicles and construction/engineer equipment, that includes, but not limitedto, body, chassis, hull, power train, drive train, suspension, track, andautomotive, armor, electrical, fire suppression, electronic, braking, steeringand hydraulic systems. Inspects maintenance services at the operator/organizationallevel and at the field maintenance level for all equipment reported by theGovernment Maintenance Supervisor or his representative. Must be capable ofgiving and receiving instructions. Performs other duties assigned. CDLLicense required. Working knowledge of GCSS-Army. Practicalknowledge of a wide range of established maintenance policies and processes,and the ability to apply a variety of common methods and techniques to analyzethe effectiveness and efficiency of these various maintenance programs. Ability to identify needed remedies or improvements, and recommendsolutions. Skilled in effective oral and written communication to explainregulations, update policy and instructions, conduct investigations, provide programinformation to management and customers, and coordinate the day-to-dayoperations of the organization's operation. The employee chooses, interpretsand adapts available guidelines (that often contain conflicting or ambiguousinstructions) to specific assignments, and recommends changes to thosepolicies. Candidate must be able to perform all the tasks not exclusiveof those described in the job description section. Must be U.S.citizen and possess a high school diploma or equivalent. Ability tospeak, read, write, and understand English proficiently and have the ability toclearly and concisely communicate both orally and in writing. Mustbe proficient in the use of computers and MS Office Software. Mustbe able to obtain a CAC and work the assigned shift hours.
