Job Summary
.
PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITION:To provide housekeeping services to all guest rooms according to the policies and procedures established by The Langham. To provide exceptional quality housekeeping services to enhance the overall guest experience.RESPONSIBILITIES AND JOB DUTIES: • Clean bathtub, toilet, sink, walls, mirrors, tiles, counters, and floor surfaces using cloths, mops sponges, brushes, and/or cleaning agents by extending arms over head, bending and stooping.• Strip and make beds, changing bed linens, which may require lifting bedspreads weighing a maximum of 20 lbs.• Replenish amenities, linens, and supplies in guest room.• Notifies House Attendants of any rollaway beds, cribs, refrigerators, and microwaves to be properly stored.• Dust all furniture, pictures, drawers, window ledges, and shelves thoroughly. • Make up cribs, rollaway beds, and sofa beds.• Remove Room Service trays/tables/items from room to elevator service landing.• Sweep and mop guest patios and balconies.• Update status of rooms cleaned on assignment sheet and through guest room phones.• Push and pull vacuum throughout entire room and empty trash. • Practices chemical safety rules and follows procedures for needles and other hazardous materials. • Use correct cleaning chemicals for designated surfaces, according to OSHA regulations and hotel requirements.• Visually inspect room for cleanliness and appearance and signify completion for room.• Sign for room keys, properly uses, keeps secure and returns the master key to Loss Prevention at the end of every shift. Keeps masters on person at all times. • Keeps floor maid closets neat and secure.• Report any defects to guest room to the Housekeeping Coordinator.• Respond in a timely manner to guest requests for items such as an iron, safety instructions, assistance, direction, and/or other information as requested.• Report all suspicious persons, activities or hazardous conditions to Loss Prevention.• Assist other Room Attendants as needed.• Assist in the completion of Turndown Service as requested: close drapes/shutters, set lighting and thermostat to designated levels, place specified items in designated locations, turndown chocolate for VIP guests, door knob menu, bathrobe, bath mats, slippers, display coffee maker, and TV remote control, set radio to designated station and volume and turn towards bed.• Turn in all items found in employee's working area to Loss Prevention.• Turn over any lost and found items from guest rooms to the Supervisor.• Other duties as assigned such as assisting House Person to vacuum hallways and dust furniture in the hallways as needed.• Report any defects to guest room to the Housekeeping Coordinator.• Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel.Salary: $20.00-$22.99
Requirement

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:• Physical activities include kneeling, crouching, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, walking, talking, seeing, hearing, bending, handling, feeling, reaching, stretching, grasping.• Requires repetitive motion of the hands, wrists, shoulders and back with repeated bending and stooping.• Ability to work alone in an established routine.• Ability to push or pull maid cart weighing up to 100 lbs.• Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 lbs.• Ability to scrub and scour surfaces, extending arms over head to perform cleaning tasks, and work in confined spaces.• Ability to communicate effectively with other employees, as well as guests.• Ability to follow instructions, directions, and meet deadlines, including the thorough cleaning of a minimum of 14 rooms or more as specified by management.• Basic ability to comprehend English language sufficient to understand information such as labels and instructions and basic guest requests.SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:• Fluency in English both verbal and non-verbal.• Ability to:o Perform job functions with attention to detail, speed, and accuracy.o Prioritize and organize.o Be a clear thinker, remaining calm and resolving problems using good judgment.o Follow directions thoroughly.o Understand guest’s service needs.o Work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team.o Work with constant supervision.o Maintain confidentiality of guest information and pertinent hotel data.EDUCATION REQUIRED:• Any combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job.EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:Previous housekeeping experience in luxury environment preferred.LICENSES OR CERTIFICATES:None.
