Planet Technology is seeking a Data Engineer with experience with Azure and Python skills for a contract-to-hire role, based in Chicago , to join a growing team and play a key role in designing, developing, and implementing data solutions using cutting-edge big data technologies.

Please note, this is a hybrid role and candidates must be willing to spend 3 days a week onsite in the Chicago location. Please do not apply unless you are physically in Chicago or are planning on relocating there!

Responsibilities:

• Build and support Data Platform and Analytics.
• Design and implement architectures to support advanced Transaction and Analytics solutions.
• Enrich data in the platform, create data pipelines for a wide variety of internal and external data types and ensure the quality and consistency of current and future data flows.
• Collaborate with data analysts and data scientists to understand data requirements and translate them into technical solutions
• Participate in code reviews, ensure code quality, and implement best practices for maintainable and scalable data engineering solutions
• Stay current on emerging big data technologies and trends, and identify opportunities for improvement in our data infrastructure

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or Associate’s degree in Computer Science or related subject, or at least 8 years of experience in IT
• Must have Agile experience
• 4 years Azure experience required
• Must have mid-strong Python skills
• Must have experience in Banking.
• Expert knowledge of data architectures, data pipelines, real-time data processing, streaming, networking, and security
• Experience designing and building scalable database applications required
• Experience articulating, designing and building resilient cloud native applications required
• Experience researching new technologies that align with business strategy and improve the user experience
• Experience communicating to both technical and business audiences
• Experience using at least some of the following languages: Java, Public Cloud, DevOps, Cloud Computing (IaaS, PaaS and SaaS), Docker Hub (Compose, Containers), APIs, SOAP and RESTful interfaces, ANT, GIT, Gradle, Maven, Spring
